For those of you who are interested in Epic's upcoming Unreal Tournament, here is a very interesting and informative chat log:

http://www.beyondunreal.com/content/articles/203_1.php

Apparently there will be no cross-platform mulit-player and the game will feel more like UT99. It seems like Epic is doing some things right. Oh and this quote makes me so happy:

"MarkRein[Epic]: Our PC fanbase is of ultimate importance to us. They are our bread and butter. We can't let them down or compromise their experience in any way to accomodate cross platform play."

It seems like Epic is doing some things right.

Check it out.

That was an interesting Q&A session. I am definately looking forward to this one hitting the 360 (as there is no way my PC will ever run it). I'm sure the multi-player will be fun, but what I am really eager to see is how the single player pans out.

Did you like the single player in UT2004? I thought it was pretty good, the bots seemed to give up a good fight. The chat log seems to suggest they're spending plenty of time to work on the bots, so I have faith it'll turn out alright.

Anyway, are you sure your PC will not run it? They've been claiming all along that this game will scale really well:
"MarkRein[Epic]: When the game ships and people are hollering about how amazed they are that an incredible game like UT3 can run on their not-so-knew systems! " (the typo is his, not mine )

I'll be honest with you man, I kinda lost interest in the series somewhere along the way. I've played the GOTY addition, Unreal Championship (1&2), but that's about it. But seeing this coming to the 360 has rekindled my interest. Some of my fondest gaming memeories are from playing the GOTY addition against bots. I can't remember the name of the map, but capture the flag in the area with the two large towers connected by a single bridge (I think it was in space) was a blast. I spent most of the time just raking up headshots with the sniper rifle. And I'm fairly certain I'll have to pick this one up on the 360. My PC isn't ancient, but it is pretty old (5 or 6 years, I guess). I could be wrong about that though. It might run great.

The map you're referring to is called "facing worlds" (or "face") and is one of the most played maps of UT. The same map (although a bit altered for balancing reasons) is present in UT2004.
Anyway, yeah I guess five or six years old will be pushing it, but it might just run on lower settings. I understand why you would go for the 360 version, though. The 360 will offer solid performance without any hassle. However, I am a bit sceptical about it. I mean, UT is traditionally very fast paced and it'll be very hard to maintain that speed using a controller without sacrificing precision. Although of course there are plenty of examples on the 360 of solid FPS-gameplay, none of them are as fast as UT.
That said, I do believe that Epic will do all it can to create a solid console experience.
