For one, I can't figure out what would be the short way of saying Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Is it R6V2? I can't say I've seen that around.

Anyhow, the game's pretty decent, once you get past a handful of bugs. Which surprises me for Ubisoft game or for a Tom Clancy game. Maybe I'm just ignorant or something (kinda like my total biff on knowing the World Cup was in South Africa... ).

Anyhow, this is the first game I've really gotten into where I control a team. I have GRAW, but I never got into the single-player because of having to control the team. I just played its multiplayer. That made me stear clear of these kinds of games in general. But with this one, I've gotten my mind wrapped around the fact that this is a tactical game and not a run-n-gun, so I'm working covertly, and have been making great use of the team to flank the enemies or draw their fire, etc. I have not tried controlling them with my voice, because although cool use of technology, I think that's a little queer.

Of course, controlling my guys is where thefrustrating bugs come in. Occasionally, they like to get stuck on a wall (a bad glitch that forces me to go it alone and die, or just restart because I'm going to die if I go it alone) or they get stuck tripping over each other (which isn't as bad because I can go back to them and get them untangled). With that second one, it's more an issue of the AI not being so intelligent...one of them will take cover at a corner, blocking the other one from passing his position, but the first one won't leave his cover unless the other one passes him. It can get frustrating because you're expecting their support in a firefight, and they're hanging out on the corner, leaving you high and dry.

Regrouping

Hey Guys, come back here! (this picture's off gamespot, but I wanted you to see the two yay-hoos that I get to call my tactical team.)

I'm also only a couple chapters in, and have had a couple other bugs, too...An 'invisible' enemy guy (showed up on my scan and on my infrared) but on normal sight, he was not there. And the typical floating guns, and whatnot. Of course, they fixed those earlyglitches like the infinite respawns that were getting people to 'Elite' level in a day, and I hope they fixed the achievement problems they had...I'll have to research that a bit more.

Still, though, it's a pretty cool game in terms of outfitting your dude with armor and camo and weapons. And the gameplay's not too hard, even on 'realistic'...so long as you keep thinking tactical.

Rainbow Six: LV was neat, not sure about two though. My fav is actually splinter cell, then GRAW on PC. I like GRAW on PC as its so tactical, i am kinda the opposite of you, i love issuing commands and move tactically.

One of my biggest regrets in gaming is not spending more time with R6V2 (yep, I use that abbreviation).

@gamer_4_fun: I'm getting more and more into the tactical. I think I needed to first accept that it wasn't a run n gun. And once I accepted that fact, I like the gameplay. I'm used to stealth games...love Splinter Cell...but I think of them a little differently then GRAW and R6. But I think R6 is closer to Splinter Cell then it is to a CoD game.
@dan_scfc: lol...it needs an abbreviation...it's too long! and I'm definitely enjoying it. It was either this or GTA4, and I just wasn't yet in the mood for GTA4.
@syler4815162342: part of it's probably me not being 100% good at the commands yet. The other part is definitely some programming bugs. But nothing where I've lost my whole game or whole level. Definitely had it freeze up on me once, and definitely the other time one of my guys got stuck to or in a wall.

I've played a bit of both games (R6V1 & 2), I just couldn't get in to them. Not my style of games, though I do like me some Splinter Cell.

@s84: Come join us on the Splinter Cell Conviction Union. It's a little slow right now cause the game isn't released until next Feb...but it's a pretty good group of guys on there.

Yeah, I don't like games where you have to control a team... although I hear its fun for multiplayer... I'd rather just go in by myself and raise hell

@readmatt007: yeah, I figured I'd just play through on realistic this first time through. But I've been making good use of my team because of that.
@theslimdavylp: yeah, that's been my problem up to this game. For whatever reason (perhaps in anticipation of Splinter Cell and going stealth), I changed my mindset and am OK with playing tactical. I still like getting the kills myself, so I try to use my team to just distract. So I try to put them in a spot where they can get shot at a little, but don't have a good shot back. Then I flank with the good shot.

When I receive R6V2 in the mail, I'll send you an invite to play Co-Op storyline or Terrorist Hunt.

@l33tek: Yes definitely!

I now have R6V2. When can you Co-Op?
Posted Oct 24, 2009 11:33 am PT
@l33tek: I'm out of town this weekend. But how about next weekend or during the week. I forget - which time zone are you in? since that would determine if we can play on a weeknight or weekend day.
