I usually call Titanic 'the greatest movie of all times'. It truly is the most powerful movie I've ever seen. The time and effort that has been put into this film is overwhelming. James Cameron wanted every little detail to be exactly right and that's a part of this film's charm. The casting is very accurate. Although Leonardo DiCaprio does seem like a little boy next to the gorgeous Kate Winslet... That's just my opinion. But all the actors fit well to their roles, especially the historically accurate characters. The story is as touching as it is informative. We learn for example the exact timeline for the ship's sinking. The love story is one of a kind and an absolute tearjerker. I know it deals with that kind of love that only appears in movies but hey, if it affects a non-romantic person like me this deeply it must be good. The film's special effects were something new and magnificent ten years ago but they still look good today. Titanic is a movie that you can go back to over and over again and not get bored. Pure brilliance.

This is such a chick flick, but actually a very enjoyable one. Romantic comedies are usually rather silly to be honest, but Notting Hill manages to be interesting and funny from start to end. It's not cheesy like most movies of this genre tend to be. Hugh Grant is a lovable, insecure bookshop owner and Julia Roberts is a gorgeous movie star and by accident they happen to meet. It's not love at first sight, they sort of learn to like each other. There begins their love story. What's refreshing in this film is that everything isn't sunshine and rainbows, things can actually go badly. My favourite thing in this film is that it isn't predictable. Overall it's a very sweet and funny movie.

A dark, different and surprising movie. Daniel Craig was able to bring a little sympathy to his character, which is remarkable considering that the character is a drug dealer. The cast did an excellent job, although I think Sienna Miller's character was quite useless. Was she written on so that the male audience would get some eye candy? The film had original camera techniques which is always pleasant for the viewer (I'm not an expert on filming so I'll just mention it like this). Overall this film was very versatile and smart, I liked it.

This movie is more about silent horror than repulsive violence. The birds being so ominous is what made this movie shine. This is a somewhat slow-paced movie so the viewer must have a little patience. As a whole this movie is very eerie and mysterious. Especially the ending leaves you with a bunch of questions. The cast is great, especially Tippi Hedren gets to shine. This film is a classic!

The Truman Show takes reality tv to a whole new level. Truman Burbank's life's meaning is to entertain, even though he himself doesn't know that. This movie is original, fascinating and touching. You can't not feel sorry for Truman (very hinting name by the way) as he is a prisoner of his own life. It's refreshing to see Jim Carrey in a series role for a change. With this film he shows that he's not all about comedy. I'd recommend this film to anyone who doesn't need loads of action to be entertained. In my opinion it's fascinating to watch Truman starting to realize what his life is actually about and the battle for freedom.

I've never been a Bond fan. I always found Bond movies ridiculous: a man with such a charm he can seduce all the ladies and with gadgets that always get him out of trouble? Not buying it. But then I went to see Casino Royale. It was something different. It was exciting, funny, dramatic, dark. It actually felt like a real independent movie compared to the previous ones. They brought Bond back down to earth after invisible cars and space travelling and achieved something new: realism. Casino Royale isn't ridiculous, it's as realistic as a Bond movie can get. The cast does an excellent job. Daniel Craig was a perfect choice for Bond. He portrays it better than anyone before in my opinion. Eva Green was brilliantly chosen to play Vesper. Vesper is a very enigmatic and complex woman (and also Bond's first love) and Eva handles the character beautifully. Mads Mikkelsen is wonderful playing the villain, he makes Le Chiffre almost lovable.
The only minus I could think of is that the movie drags a little at the end. They could have edited something out so that the interest wouldn't fade. But as you can see, I rated this film five stars because I absolutely loved it and I'm looking forward to the 22th Bond!
