Look guys, just about every developer that's got on board with the Wii
has praised it, they absolutley love it, that should tell you something.
People come up with some dumb excuses NOT to buy a Wii. Why? In life,
the bigger you get (more famous, popular, etc) the more people will
hate you. Why? It's a defense mechanism to lure them away from negative
emotions. In this case, people know the Wii can and will be a huge
contender, otherwise people wouldnt take so much time and energy to
create new topics about how much Wii sucks everyday. If the Wii didnt
have a chance, NO ONE WOULD CARE! It's called the green monster, the
bigger you are more people will hate. If you're still in high school
(i'm in college now) you'll quickly figure this out when you get into a
leadership position like comander of an rotc rank, section leader in
the band, sga president, whatever you do, people are going to find
something wrong with what you are doing, no matter how good you're
doing it. Back to the poor excuses:
1) I don't wanna look stupid "flailing my arms around like a retarded kid"
The majority of people who use this excuse are the SAME PEOPLE who own
DDR Pads and go to the arcade to play DDR. Guess what, to people who
don't play video games, you look stupid. "But I don't wanna look
stupid!" Good call. I'm not trying to offend anyone, but that's how
society works. Not to mention you probably wont be using a Wii too much
in public unless you're Pro-Walmart. So it's a dumb excuse. Secondly,
the Wii has sensitivity settings, you can change them to be very minute
if you wish. Problem solved!
2) The Wii has poor graphics
Wrong. Graphics are not all about technical capabilitys. Four Huge
Orange Boxes at 1920x1080 on screen does not have better graphics than
Super Mario for the NES. The Wii has poor resolution and textures and
pixels per second and all that techno-savy garbage. What people don't
see is the Wii's environments are bigger, much more vivid, and
stylistically greater than the GC or XBOX by a considerable margin
(Nintendo Power). Also according to Nintendo Power, Metriod Prime 3's
levels are to be three times bigger in all directions than MP2. It's not a GC with a tv remote. GC games will never look as good. With that said, knowing it looks alot better than GC, it;s not going to be as visually appealing as XBOX360 and PS3. As far as grapics are concerned, you get what you pay for. 199.99 for the Wii is great. (I say this because the 249.99 package, which is the only one offered, comes with a game valued at 49.99.
3) The controller sucks
I'll actually admit, some games just CANNOT play well with a Wii
Controller. However, for a far greater amount of games, the controller
is best suited for, mainly FPS.
4) The Price
$249.99 is not a bad price considering you get a free game valued at $49.99. So technically it's $199.99 for a Wii. We'll use that in this post from now on. The Gamecube right now is $99.99. So most people would say something like: "Since it has GC graphics, it should be the same price." Well, lets take a look at the size of a Wii, it's much smaller, compression costs money. But were not compressing GC Hardware are we? Nope. The Wii's hardware is about twice as powerfull as the GC's. So you're compressing new hardware to be smaller than old hardware. It makes sence to be offered at $100 more than a GC. Plus the Wii Controller and Sensor bar that comes with a Wii is alot more expensive to make than a generic GC controller. Plus they're using a new disk format, and dont even say it's DVD, because it's not. So, in reality the $199.99 price isnt bad at all when compared to $299.99 XBOX 360 and $499 PS3.
5) The games are "kiddy". People on this forum have a really bad problem with over rationalization. They see a larger amount of child oriented games on Nintendo systems and they intentially leave out the awesome games and talk about how all Nintendo games are kiddy. They use poor argument strategies to convince people their view is correct much like an 11 year old kid arguing with his or her parents about something he or she isnt allowed to do. "But mom!!! Suzie's allowed to do it!!!" "Yes, but suzie's a crackwhore!" see how her daughter conviently left out the fact that her pier is a crackwhore? It's the same concept. They use only what's convient to their argument and leave out stuff they KNOW would destroy their argument. (Yes I'm a psychology major). back to the point! There are plently of games on Nintendo systems that arent child oriented and people love and they end up in the top 100 games of all time in game magazines and gamespot rankings. You see, Nintendo has the right idea: To get everyone from every walk of like, from eight to eighty. And it;s going to work.
Please Wii haters!! Give me more ammunition!!!
Now keep in mind, i love the XBOX360, and the PS3 will be awesome as well, if i had the money I'd buy all three systems, becuase the all rock. There's too much hate on the Wii and I'm here to rectify it. Peace.
Anyways something came to my attention today. It seems the makers of Diablo 2 (addicting as hell) are making Hellgate: London!Diablo is my favorite PC series, and it kinda ended with 2. (they have nowhere to go with the story) And after they fired all of the makers of Diablo, I'm not expecting Diablo 3 to be that great, that's if Blizzard ever makes one. But I learned today that the makers of D2 are making Hellgate: London! And surprising it looks good! It's what I would expect from a 3D Diablo game. (besides the FPS parts, and the time difference)
And the best part of all this is that it's supposed to be out this year!
Well that's all I really have to say...I'm too tired to type anything else.
