Okay, I'm finding the checkpoint placements in Gears of War to be ridiculous. I'm at the Underground Pump Station where I have to secure the platform from the Locust with the Torque Bows and beside all the times that I've been killed at the part, the prior checkpoint f***ing sucks. It placed way back from the platform so when I die, I have to run quite a distance, walk as I listen to a communication, and then see the same damn "When's the last time the wind said..." cutscene. That's the most aggravating part. And I've come across other parts in the game where it's exactly the same (checkpoint is quite a bit away from where you died and there is a cutscene thrown in there for good measure
). Now being a shooter, it becomes on the repetitive/annoying side when you have to watch the damn thing every time you die, especially with the amount of the deaths you suffer from (Gears of War = enemies with the most 'Lucky Shots' ever
)
Anyways, just wanted to vent as I'm about to go back at it...again...for the umpteenth time...

Your best bet is to co op that part. Even on Insane, it was a hell of a lot easier tackling it with a friend.
Another game that annoyed me, with its terrible checkpoint placement is Perfect Dark Zero. Every time I think of all the times I died on the bridge section near the end of the game because of that terrible checkpoint, I just wanna break my copy of the game.
And I find going toe-to-toe with Boomers to be a bad idea...I was hiding behind some cover and that sucker was circling around on me. I was in a room with one way out so that didn't help either when there was no other cover in the room and he was blocking my only exit. And he fakes you too. When he says "Boom" and doesn't fire, I roll out of the way, and then he fires

Ninja Gaiden didn't seem that aggravating to me for some odd reason like it did to so many others. I've heard people complain about Alma but I only died maybe 2-3 times by her hand my first time through the game.

But I must again say, even with the incredibly accurate A.I.(at least on Insane) and unskippable sequences which do without a doubt get tedious, it still is an excellent achievement in video games.
