I downloaded Wipeout HD for the bargain price of $20 yesterday. I have been playing the series since it began on PS1 in 1995. This is the 7th game in the series (3 for PS1, 1 for PS2, 2 for PSP and now 1 for PS3) and it brings the excitement that only Wipeout can deliver. I've always preferred this series over F-Zero. I do like the F-Zero series, but it is nowhere near as stylish or polished as Wipeout.

They really should have released this game on Bluray as well and sold it for $30-$40. It is done the way every series that has a history should be when debuting on the PS3. Great visuals at 60fps at 1080p (yes, my hdtv can handle that), perfect controls, deep campaign with variety, diverse ship selection with unlockable paint liveries, 8 player online play, pulsing soundtrack (if you like techno/electronica).

I would have paid $60 for this. I would have paid $40 for this. Download this game! Now!

And now for a personal message to Sony. Please bring back Colony Wars and Destruction Derby on the PS3. Those were two other great series made by Psygnosis that were never seen again after the PS1 days. The Colony Wars Trilogy was epic, especially the first game. An HD remake of the first Colony Wars would be a dream come true. Destruction Derby was the originator of the whole car crushing/racing genre and it also deserves an HD entry. Go with what worked in the past......Wipeout is gonna bust a million dowloads in my prediction.
