My position on gaming: "Quality, not polygon quantity".
I am not one of those hypocrites who says that graphics aren't important in gaming. Of course they are; a quality game should have smooth curves, sunlight glinting off of water, guns swords, etc... But style over substance is just not on. I for one am sick of things like the FIFA and GTA (I do concede that the large, freeform GTA cities are impressive and exactly what I'm talking about) franchises, which keep trotting out the same old stories and gameplay, but with just a few more polygons.
This is why I look for quality gameplay and innovative systems first, and then graphics. I get very angry when people say graphics are all that matters, because if you have superb graphics and terrible gameplay guess what you've got?
A film. And games are not films.
They shouldn't just be repetitive button bashing from one cutscene or set-piece to the next. I'm talking Oblivion, I'm talking FarCry, I'm talking Nintendo Wii. But most of all, I'm talking about the future.
