So I’ve been gone a while. Yes I still exist, I’ve just moved my efforts onto other things lately. Namely my podcast http://www.onholdpodcast.com, and onto another blog that Ive started up elsewhere. No, you’re not getting the address.

As for TV.com, I’m actually using it a fair bit these days. I love the episode guides, and would one day like to get back to my sorely left in the lurch Silverhawks guide. Now that I’ve got a video iPod though maybe I can just put the episodes onto that and catch up, before someone releases the dvds.

I’m not sure this is really the best time for me to be blogging here, things have been a bit stressed lately for me. Oh not that anything too bad’s really been happening, nothing aside from the normal working blues, and lack of funds. Me and my girl are doing great, I’m trying to get out and go camping a lot this summer, and I’ve been reading a lot of very good comic books. On top of that I finally got my computer at home set up as a media center, and despite having to use AMDs slightly buggy software for the guide and recording interactions, its great. I’m sure Yahoo’s “Tv To Go” will actually support my card one of these days. Too bad its summer and theres only crap on. Well crap, and Big Brother.

I’ve been really trying to do positive things for my life, I’m trying to apply to jobs as much as I can. In fact I just applied for a position at CNET, so hello if you’re reading this CNET people, please hire me And I’m thinking about maybe trying to make some more cash on the side / get more experience doing something that might translate into a potential working opportunity by looking into some web stuff. But that’s really just in the planning stages so I don’t want to go into it at the moment. Anyhow, I’m going to head now. I hope you’ll all check out my podcast. Stay cool kids.

So the Oscars are over and what a trip it was, I was expecting pretty much everything except the big one, Best Picture. I really thought that Best Picture was going to go to Brokeback Mountain. While I liked Crash a fair bit, I honestly think that the film got hyped into something far bigger than it was. I will give the Crash folks some serious props for sending out the reported five thousand screener copies of the film. I’m sure the fact that Crash was so fresh in people’s minds made a difference to the voters. Regardless of that one surprise I thought it was a good evening. Jon Stewart seemed to do a really good job, but then again he really always does. They should definitely ask him back for next year. I think that my Oscar party was something of a success too, it wasn’t as big as I was thinking, but that’s definitely a good thing as we didn’t really have the room. But we settled at a cozy 10 to 12 bodies, and had really a good amount of food and drink. Maybe next year I can get my hands on a bigger tv though. Also, I didn’t win the Oscar pool, but almost made it with 14 right out of 24. The winner had 15 so, close but no cigar. Win or loose, it was a fun night.

As for the On Hold podcast… Well we we’re supposed to record the first episode last night before the Oscars, but things took a pretty long time to get started, and while we did get a bunch of stuff hashed out regarding how we want the podcast to work, and even recorded a few things like the intro, the transitionals, and a little skit, we didn’t actually get to the episode recording. So we’re going to do the full recording of episode 001 tonight, and hopefully get it up really soon after that. I’m having some issues with Libsyn, where I’m planning on hosting the podcast because I didn’t already have a Paypal account set up, so it might take an extra day or so, but I’m getting antsy, so it better come together soon. If not I’ll just probably post the MP3 somewhere and then people can at least download it directly through the site even if the RSS feed isn’t set up yet.

I applied for a job on Friday with a very cool looking start up company out of Burlingame called MeeVee. The site www.meevee.com look pretty cool. They run a personalized online tv guide, with what looks like some very smart ways of categorizing your picks. I played around with the system a bit over the weekend and it seems very solid, I’d love to get a chance to work somewhere that has more opportunity for growth than where I am now. Hopefully they’ll give me an interview. Fingers crossed people…

PS – I’ve been posting a lot in the forums over at HBPC. Their forums are just really starting to get some activity and I’d like to help those guys out by keeping the dialogue flowing. Come check it out . I’m around there most days. Maybe I’ll see you there, later kids.
