Bio
Jonathan Pryce was born on 1st June 1947 in Holywell, North Wales, the youngest of three children. His father, Isaac, was a coal miner and passed away in 1976. His mother, Margaret Ellen, was a retail cashier.
As a young child he enjoyed performing in front of his bedroom mirror, pretending to play a guitar. He also entered and won a talent competition, whilst on holiday.
His strongest subject at school was art, so he studied to be an art teacher in Liverpool. However, after taking acting classes,he won a place at RADA and when he graduated, he never looked back.
He started as artistic director at the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool and this was where he met his long-term partner, Kate Fahy in 1974.
Many leading roles followed for Jonathan, including a season at the RSC Stratford-Upon-Avon.
He made his first film 'Voyage of the Damned 'in 1976 and has been working steadily in TV,film and stage ever since.
He has won many awards including 'Best Actor' at the Cannes Film Festival. He lives in Highgate, North London, with Kate and their three children: Patrick (b. 1983), Gabriel (b. 1986) and Phoebe (b. 1990).
