Loretta Swit, born on November 4, 1937, is best known for her role as Major Margaret Houlihan on M*A*S*H. However, before M*A*S*H began, she guest-starred on numerous television shows, including Mission: Impossible and Hawaii Five-O. After her many guest appearances on television, she obtained the role of "Hot Lips" on M*A*S*H. In the end, her work with the show paid off, as she recieved two Emmy Awards for the show. Both were for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Since M*A*S*H, Swit's latest occupation is owning her own jewelry line across the United States. Besides acting, she also wrote a book, called Needlepoint Scrapbook.

Loretta is also very active in animal rights.
