The Goo Goo Dolls have come a long way. Their first CD is nearly unrecognizable for a die-hard fan, never mind someone less well acquainted with their music. Personally, I've enjoyed every stage in their development. I don't know if they sound like other bands in their early CDs, as all the reviews say, but I do know that in every album (well, maybe not the first one :)) the guys, especially John, have written and do sing their songs with all of their being, and to me, that makes them the best band ever--one of the all-time greats. I hope the Goo Goo Dolls live forever and I hope I do, too, so I can listen to them as they evolve, but still remain their beautiful selves (and I'm not just talking about their soft ballads).

The Goo Goo Dolls is an incredibly talented band, and I don't hear too many bands quite like them. Their music is addicting and so beautiful, and when it's combined with their equally as beautiful lyrics you have one amazing song. I love almost every one of The Goo Goo Dolls' songs that I've heard. The lyrics tell a story, which is the whole purpose of music. The lyrics also make sense and aren't made up of a bunch of vulgar words, slang, or other crap that so many songs are. The Goo Goo Dolls are definately one of a kind, and they're one of my all-time favorite bands.

I love this band because the music is terrific and the lyrics are even better. The music is often multi-layered, including many non-traditional rock instruments. On many of their albums the Goo Goo Dolls use more strings than just the guitar, such as the violin and mandolin. Another great example of this is their very famous July 4th show of 2004, where even the saxaphone was used. If you read the lyrics to many of their songs you can find deeper meaning than what may be impressed upon you when listening to the great guitars, bass, and drums. Johnny Rzeznik and Robby Takac are fantastic lyricists. This is a band that should not be over looked by any true rock fan. Although they are known best for their song "Iris" many people over look some of their other great pieces. Their newest piece that is recognized by many people in the US and even internationally is "Better Days". This song's powerful words and music has represented the struggle that we face today. This is a band that is definitely worth listening to and deserves much more credit than they have.

The Goo Goo Dolls have created fabulous music. John Rzeznik, the front man, has a hot, raspy voice that baits the listeners own vocals to inevitably join the band in rocking hard. The words enlighten and set one's soul on fire at the chorus of each song - a wonderful shining moment for Rzeznik to express himself through sound - and he does so very well. A great band to turn to for relief of stress and, or anger, it will continue to stay a favorite band of mine for sure, because it is a useful outlet for a desperate need of deeply enjoyable singing.
