Quotes

  • Rollins: He put a couple of things into perspective, allowing me to free my swing up a little more, ... It's all about getting yourself in the proper position to hit. You get up 400, 500, 600 times a year, you want to be in a good position to hit. That's what I mean by freeing up my swing. I think it's always good to hear from the opposite end of the spectrum.
  • Rollins: We're not devastated. It's definitely a lot tougher, but as long as you have a mathematical chance, anything can happen. We can catch fire and that's what we need to do.
  • Rollins: Never give up. Never give in.
  • Rollins: Being involved means giving it your all and helping the team win, much like you're doing during the season with your respective team. The games will be competitive and intense, almost playoff-like. You'll have to be at the top of your game mentally and physically to compete.
  • Rollins: It's always special to see the smiles on the kids' faces, especially at this age. I remember one time when Rickey Henderson came to speak to us. I got a real kick out of it. I really enjoy doing these things.
  • Rollins: When the pressure is on, I definitely showed up to play. I was able to prove it last year.
  • Rollins: That's one heck of a long hitting streak. When I looked back after the season, it was like, 'Wow, that's 36 days of working to be successful, but he did it for 20 more games.' It's almost unimaginable that someone can even hit in that many games straight, but here I am across the halfway point. This is when it gets tough.
  • Rollins: That's what separates the men from the boys, what you do when crunch time is on. Though we didn't get to the playoffs, it was an important race. It brought a lot of attention to me and to the team.
  • Rollins: That's what I'm here for, to hopefully do something special, something that hasn't been done in a long time. If that happens, that's fine. Everybody wants to be that man at least once in their career. If I have an opportunity to do that, I'm going to relish it.
  • Rollins: Underdog, that's something that we've been accustomed to, playing in Philadelphia. We're always the underdog.
  • Rollins: Expectations change every year. People are going to believe what they want to believe. Personally, I believe we have a solid club.
  • Rollins: The man still has it. Tom Gordon still has it.
