Mark Martin is one of the greatest race car drivers of all time. He is a true gentleman on the track and rarely ever causes a wreck. He is the most respected driver on the circuit right now. Mark Martin has won the IROC series 5 times, a feat matched only by another great driver, Dale Earnhart. I started following Mark Martin in 1992. I picked him as my favorite driver because of his style of driving. He was never too aggressive on the track, unlike some of the other drivers. He really began to enjoy success when he joined Jack Roush and they built one of the top teams in NASCAR today.

Mark Martin has always been one of my favorite drivers. He is known to be the cleanest race car driver. He races a fellow driver as they race him. As a result, Mark Martin is the most respected driver by both his fellow drivers and by the fans.

He has been a very successful driver with 4 ASA Championships, 5 IROC Championships, 7 Truck wins, 47 Busch wins, and 35 Cup wins (As of 10/4/2007). Also as of 10/4/2007, he currently holds the Busch series record for the most wins. Some would say that the only this missing from his career are a Daytona 500 win and a Cup championship. However, a true fan knows that they do not matter because Mark Martin is a true champion among champions. Go Mark Martin!!!

Possibly the biggest disappointment of his career was in 1990. After he won the spring race at Richmond, his team was penalized 46 points for an infraction on his car discovered during the post-race inspections. He ended up finishing second to Dale Earnhardt in the final standings by 26 points, so if it weren't for that penalty, he would have been the 1990 NASCAR Cup champion.
Still, to this day he's won 35 races, and he's running a part-time schedule (and doing a great job!) after leaving Jack Roush's team after the 2006 season.

Mark Martin is truely one of the greatest race care drivers of his time.He was going to retire last year , but was asked to stick around for one more year and could not say no.This was good news for all of his race fans. Mark Martin never won a Nascar championship. This should not take away from what he brought to the sport , of Nascar Racing. He has always been a gentlmen to each and every driver . Always knowing when to push his car , and when to move out of the way when his car was not that good. When he retires this year at the end of the season , he will truely be missed.
