Often confused with the genre "Emo", this band does not, in reality, accentuate that classification. As far as I've listened to their music, I have not heard any kind of whinning or any sort of "emo culture" in them. It is more probable to hear emo lyrics in rap than in this band (in many rap songs, they talk how bad their lives have been, even though they might have lived in riches). Their lyrics are in fact thoughtful, sometimes to take a little bit more time to understand what the song talks about (Like Cementery Drive and The End), and very inspiring (Like Head First for Halos and Teenagers). My Chemical Romance songs are worth listening to, as for you wont find any idiocities or plain thoughts (ahem JLo)

People who might hate the band might be actually in hate of it's immense popularity. I might belong in that case. The band is great, their songs have a great effect... This band is worthwile the time, but the worship that has been establish for this band is sickening. I love the band for their songs, their obscure lyrics that actually require thinking to understand. The majority of people are not aware of this. They only love the band for looks and probably dont even understand the lyrics. It's very resentful to see a fan saying "I love MCR... I know all of their lyrics!!" without them ever knowing what they meant in the song. It's very tiring really, and I understand those people who dont love MCR

To have an example of all of the above, I have a friend who hated MCR. His only reason was because they were overrated (which is in fact, true) and that their songs "sucked". I partly disagreed with him, telling him that their songs were in fact great and that he should try listening to a reasent one. I made him listen "The Ghost of You", and at the end, he changed his mind about their music. His opinion about MCR has not changed, but now he listens to his songs, cause they are too damn good to not listen.
