He is charming, funny and sweet. His talents range from children's movies (Alvin and the chipmunks) to adult movies (how to be a serial killer). His art is brilliant because when you look at it at first it looks scary or sad, but then it looks funny and makes you want to smile. From his hand written web page to his odd socks, Matthew really is one in a million!!!

The first episode of Criminal Minds I saw was Somebody's Watching and I saw Matthews awkward swim with the girl Lila. I was intrigued with him because he reminded me so much of a young Daniel Jackson(Stargate SG1). The next episode I saw him in was The Big Game/Revelations and did he impress me. He was kidnapped and abused and he acted like a real person would. He was frightened and he cried unlike the macho men that usually are sarcastic and laugh off torture. It was even more impressive because Reid may look fragile he had a great ammount of strength and was able to save himself.
He is so beautiful and I can see Reid's torment in Matthew's eyes and facial expressions. I love intelligent ,quirky men and he personifies that. Those model looks don't hurt either. A model who can act. He really humanizes Reid for me and with just a look in his eyes or a catch in his voice,he can drive me too tears. I felt so bad for him when he told Morgan of his childhood torment in Elephant's Memory. When he cried,it felt like an actual memory.
I hope Criminal Minds doesn't lose him. He's a gift and I won't watch the show without him.

Not only is this show great, Mathew is too! I went to a pumkin patch over the weekend and Matthew was there with a couple of his friends. He was picking pumpkins enjoying his day like the rest of the patrons. It was not until we were in the line paying that people started noticing him. He very polity handle the little crowd of parents that started approaching him. He signed families receipts thanking them for their encouragments and even stopped to take a photo with a my freind and I. We apologized for being so excited but again he was kind. One of his friends even took the picture for us. I have ran into celebrities in and around Los Angelas before and by far he was the kindest. This experience will make watching his show even better!

Reid ranks at the top of my list for all time favorite characters. I love Gublers' chameleon like ability of his to ease into a role and own it like a second skin. I hated it when Patankin left the show - but I have continued to watch. And as much as I admire the whole cast - if Gubler left I'm not so sure I would do the same. I'm surprised it took more than one or two auditions before they gave him the gig for CM. There must have been some fierce competition/talent. But kudos for the final decision to pick Gubler and kudos for picking all of these folks - they work well together and on screen it really gels. I am looking forward to Gubler having a very long and successful career.

if you haven't, you should check out matthew's website at www.matthewgraygubler.com, it's brilliant. so are his "unauthorized" documentaries on youtube.
if you haven't seen criminal minds, you should check it out. the writing is sharp, the plots are excellent and the characters are fantastic. matthew's portrayal of reid is nothing short of brilliant.

He is different and definitly talented which makes me want to see his work all the more! I am looking forward to seeing his latest film when its released and in the mean time will continue to watch criminal minds! I have recently watched the movie 'alvin and the chipmunks' not realising that he played the character of 'simon' i feel like he played the part perfectly! This movie is just another example of how different and talented matthew is!! Matthew Gray Gubler is outstanding in the role of Dr. Spencer Reid on the show Criminal Minds. This character, abandoned by his father at ten, left in the care of his schizophrenic mother, graduated from high school at twelve. He went on to earn three PhD's, has an identic memory, and can read 20,000 words per minute. Playing the role of this nerdy genius, Matthew has given us these insights into his past with the emotions this past evokes clearly played out on his face. The abandonment and pressure of having to care for his ailing mother, while being so much younger than his classmates, have made this character socially awkward, emotionally reserved and in a league of his own. As he youngest member of this team of profilers it would be easy to see him as just the keeper of all knowledge, and one dimensional, but Matthew is very adept at preventing this from happening. He uses the quirkiness and eccentricities of this role to flesh out a whole character. One you love to watch and care about. The emotions of Dr. Spencer Reid are given life by this fine actor, and they play across his face and in his body language with a convincing, often heart wrenching honesty. A great role, played by a great actor.

Matthew Gray Gubler is just an average actor. He really is not that great, but he's not terrible. He plays Dr. Reid on Criminal Minds and plays the character relatively well. I think my dislike for him is part the hate for the character and part the mediocre acting on his part. Anyways, I've only seen his as Reid on Criminal Minds so it's a little unfair for me to judge him on just that. His acting in the show just seems like saying lines and becoming the character a little. He really is just mediocre and I don't think he should get any more roles.
