Reid ranks at the top of my list for all time favorite characters. I love Gublers' chameleon like ability of his to ease into a role and own it like a second skin. I hated it when Patankin left the show - but I have continued to watch. And as much as I admire the whole cast - if Gubler left I'm not so sure I would do the same. I'm surprised it took more than one or two auditions before they gave him the gig for CM. There must have been some fierce competition/talent. But kudos for the final decision to pick Gubler and kudos for picking all of these folks - they work well together and on screen it really gels. I am looking forward to Gubler having a very long and successful career.

if you haven't, you should check out matthew's website at www.matthewgraygubler.com, it's brilliant. so are his "unauthorized" documentaries on youtube.

if you haven't seen criminal minds, you should check it out. the writing is sharp, the plots are excellent and the characters are fantastic. matthew's portrayal of reid is nothing short of brilliant.

He is different and definitly talented which makes me want to see his work all the more! I am looking forward to seeing his latest film when its released and in the mean time will continue to watch criminal minds! I have recently watched the movie 'alvin and the chipmunks' not realising that he played the character of 'simon' i feel like he played the part perfectly! This movie is just another example of how different and talented matthew is!! Matthew Gray Gubler is outstanding in the role of Dr. Spencer Reid on the show Criminal Minds. This character, abandoned by his father at ten, left in the care of his schizophrenic mother, graduated from high school at twelve. He went on to earn three PhD's, has an identic memory, and can read 20,000 words per minute. Playing the role of this nerdy genius, Matthew has given us these insights into his past with the emotions this past evokes clearly played out on his face. The abandonment and pressure of having to care for his ailing mother, while being so much younger than his classmates, have made this character socially awkward, emotionally reserved and in a league of his own. As he youngest member of this team of profilers it would be easy to see him as just the keeper of all knowledge, and one dimensional, but Matthew is very adept at preventing this from happening. He uses the quirkiness and eccentricities of this role to flesh out a whole character. One you love to watch and care about. The emotions of Dr. Spencer Reid are given life by this fine actor, and they play across his face and in his body language with a convincing, often heart wrenching honesty. A great role, played by a great actor.

I think my dislike for him is part the hate for the character and part the mediocre acting on his part. Anyways, I've only seen his as Reid on Criminal Minds so it's a little unfair for me to judge him on just that. His acting in the show just seems like saying lines and becoming the character a little. He really is just mediocre and I don't think he should get any more roles.

The way he plays the character is so heartfelt and moving plus he is totally amazing as it. I especially love how he played Reid when he had the drug issues. This is because he played it with such heart and emotion. :)

Of course it totally help that he's unbelievably gorgeous and as Reid he is a total sex god. Lol. I personally have a total thing for geeks so I love Reid because he is, well duh, a total geek. I personally think that Reid is my perfect man. :):)

From all I've seen, MGG is an awesome guy!!! He doesn't care about what other people think (by way of his crazy socks) and he has impressive acting skills. He blew me away with his acting on Revelations. He made me cry. Anyway, he plays a character that I can really relate to, being put down by others, feeling left out, socially awkward, and many other things. I love watching him becuase I feel just like him and it's great to see his interaction with the other members, and they feel like part of my family too, because I wish I knew those kind of people too, esp. him. No one in the entire world could play a better Dr. Spencer Reid. The writers better not make him permanently addicted to drugs, or suffer a chip on his shoulder because of it, becuase then all that he stands for will be crushed, and there will no longer be a hero for people like the rest of us out there.
