Camilla's father was a journalist and her mother a magistrate. She grew up in Holland Park, London, and has three sisters. After school, Camilla went to Newcastle University, where she read Maths, and then became a top model.

Camilla is married to Rufus Abbott, a PR man (and sometime stonemason) whom she met at a party in London. They were married at St George's, Campden Hill, in February 2003, and now have a son called Hector. Rufus, Camilla and Hector live in Hackney, and a second child is on the way.

While carrying on with her modelling career, Camilla has now found her feet as an actress, on stage as well as screen. In March, 2004, as she was opening in a new play called Three Women, she commented - "I don't want to leave modelling just yet. It's great fun. Theatre, on the other hand, is terrifying. I hope I can take this experience and put it back into film work."
