- He drew a picture of Karasu and Kurama, which involved yaoi.
- Due to his illnesses which occur every now and then, his artwork in YYH and HXH is either sloppy or rushed. (A good example would be the 3 kings arc of Yu Yu Hakusho . He even stated in volume 6 of Yu Yu Hakusho he was sick, and would do his work from a hospital bed or when he got home from a hospital bed.)
- His favorite villain in YYH is Itsuki.
- Although he wears glasses and looks nothing like a dog, he often likes to depict himself as a dog when he draws his "self-portrait" inside his graphic novels for his manga works.
- As of 2006, he currently lives in Tokyo with his fellow manga-ka wife, Naoko Takeuchi.
- He has one child, a boy, with his only wife Naoko Takeuchi.

- Due to his age and the the phenomenal success of Hunter X Hunter, several major changes have been made at the offices of Shonen Jump Japan. For example, Togashi-sensei receives longer vacations and bigger advances than any of Shonen Jump's other manga-ka. This has come to be known as "Togashi-ism".
- In 1999, he married Sailor Moon creator, Naoko Takeuchi.
