- Of all the directors Angus has worked with his favorites are Andrzej Sekula (The Pleasure Drivers), Tim Robbins (Cradle Will Rock), and Robert Dornhelm (the television movie Spartacus).
- Angus favorite actors are Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Gérard Depardieu, Spencer Tracy, Harvey Keitel, Marlon Brando, Peter Sellers, Jack Nicholson, Jack Thompson, Tom Towles, Jack Lemmon, Monty Clift, Ian Bannen, Luke Mullaney, Luke De Lacey, Geoffrey Rush and David O'Hara. His favorite actress is Jessica Lange.
- Angus' play 1905 for which he won an award (see bio section) is a sequel to Chekhov's Uncle Vanya set in the first Russian revolution.
- Angus has had an affair with Lulu, the 1960s teen idol who is 15 years his senior.
- Angus has an action figure made to his effigy; it's for his character Komodo from the movie Warriors of Virtue.
- Angus was engaged to Catherine Zeta Jones. They went out for two years, but split up in 1996.
- Angus speaks French fluently.
- Angus starred in the 1992 made for television movie The Lost Language of Cranes. It co-starred Eileen Atkins and Brian Cox.

- Angus: (On working with Sandra Bullock on the movie Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood) Sandra has a great wit and I was kind of surprised because she would kind of hit below the belt, too. She's really sharp and witty and fast and furious. She kind of reminds me of Lucille Ball in some ways.
- Angus: (On how grueling the filming of Saw III was) Every day was really tough. It's not a romantic comedy or something. We'd come in at six A.M. and have these situations you're going to have to be in all day. You have to pay some sort of respect to all that, so I thought I had to stay in sort of a zone. I didn't feel like I could get into kidding. You have to focus in and stay in a certain zone and not fall out of it.
- Angus: (On what sort of horror movie he enjoys) My thing is psychological realism, especially with horror. If you're going to sell these things you're going to have to do it right and you can't cheat. You can't cheat the emotions and you can't cheat that psychological terror.
- Angus: (Discussing what he found different about playing Alva Keel in Miracles from other roles) Well, it being serial tv, I couldn't really get a bio from the writers because they had no idea either where the whole thing was going, which was rather alarming to say the least, means you have to do as little as possible so as not to contradict yourself in the future…fear based character driven choices, not me cuppa tea.
- Angus: (Answering a question about if he prefers choosing a "good guy" or "bad guy" character) Each character teaches me something new about who I am, it's like tuning into different wavelengths on the radio, each a different thought process, thankfully I have this job or they'd have locked me up long ago... I think they're still after me...
- Angus: (On rewriting his character Komodo in the movie Warriors of Virtue) I had agreed to do this role so long as I was allowed to rewrite it. It was written as a bad James Bond thriller and I rewrote it as a Taoist villain, a character who spouted philosophy... And it was welcomed, in a way, because it was an improvement on the material.
- Angus: (Talking about Catherine Zeta Jones after their split) I haven't met a woman I really liked since being with Catherine. There hasn't been anyone with the same good sense of humour I could have fallen in love with. I find now that I can only feel romantically attached for about a month and can't take anything seriously any more. But when I was with Catherine I loved doing romantic things for her.
- Angus: (On the "diet" he used to gain weight prior to playing Orson Welles in the movie Cradle Will Rock) I ate three steaks for lunch instead of one, and two pieces of chocolate cake for dessert, and I didn't exercise at all.
- Angus: (On how he got the part in Saw III) Got a script. Read it. Went pretty fast actually. Read it, liked it. Met the two guys and we were on.
- Angus: (On why he chose a career as an actor instead of becoming a diplomat) I wasn't going to be able to go out and have to lie in the real world for a country when I'm sure it would have created some sort of moral dilemmas. So I chose something like acting; in a sense, telling the truth through a lie, through an illusion. The ultimate paradox of life.
