Chuck Jones was pure genius and proved it by giving us Bugs Bunny, The Grinch and countless hours of entertainment. He could do it all: animation, story boards, music composition, art direction. I simply cannot say enough about him.

He introduced at least a generation of children to classical music by using it as the soundtrack for his animated insanity. His wry, witty cartoons were as entertaining to adults as they were to children. The amount of work he produced in his lifetime is simply astounding.

His animated version of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" is a true classic. He convinced his friend, author Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel), that a good animated version was possible. Jones was true to his word and created a masterpiece by getting Boris Karloff to narrate (and take the role of the Grinch) and Thurl Ravenscroft (voice of Tony the Tiger) to sing the original music. The success of that animated version encouraged Jones and Seuss to produce "Horton Hears a Who".

Aside from Grinch one of the gems of Jones' career is his animated version of "A Cricket in Times Square". True to both the book and the original illustrations by Garth Williams, this animated feature should be shown again on television.
