I can't say enough about this movie I can't give it enough credit how eerie this whole fairy tale like world comes to life on the screen and you fall in love in what could be the bad guy or the good guy/girl depending on who you are I say this is A mutch watch for anyone who likes vampires or for anyone who like good film this is a truly superb Movie

Best vampire movie since...! Oh, wait, what? They almost always suck? Interview was good, sure, but nothing worth-while since then. This one makes up for lost time. The end makes me want to see more and I think that's got good written all over it....

It's been a while since I've seen a great horror film let alone a vampire story and this film is one of those ones I've been waiting for. The film isn't just a straghtfoward horror film but it's actually a moving romance story. Everything in the film is done right. I really love the fact that this takes place in the winter because that is usually the time when there is not much sun. The use of cold, darkness and snow just really creates an unsettling, isolating, and forboding atmosphere as if danger can come out and be hidden anywhere. And the film does have some gore but it's not explicit this is once again an example of gore used the right way and reasons. And another fact the word vampire is not used once in the film.

However what really powers this film for me is the drama, the interplay and depth between both Oskar and Eli. Both feel like real kids their not sterotypical all smiles. The chemestry between the two is beautiful, both despite differences do have comonalities both are outsiders and are alone in the world. I really could relate to the Oskar character because I was in the same place as him at the time; I didn't have many friends, I liked/loved as well as did different things that's not popular with the social norm, I didn't really fit in with the crowd which made me a minority, but worst of all just like him I was bulled by scumsuckers that were in the same school I was in. I really like how the bullies are portrayed in this film, you don't like them at all. But don't worry in the end they get exactly what they deserve and I'll admit that it felt good seeing that. Most of all Eli is a very intreging character that you feel an equal amount of pathos for. There is a great sense of depth to her because we see how long she's been a vampire, there was a scene where she shows Oskar a single toy that is now worth millions of dolars, yeah that long. She is somewhat wise and a bit mature that Oskar and yet still a kid all the same, which is both interesting and sad. And she knows she kills but it's to survive she can't help it, it's like any wild animal that has to kill it's prey for food it's their nature nothing can change that.

I really do love how both do understand one another there are significant differences that and both act mature for their age both didn't just act like kids but almost felt like adults, which make it feel more than just a frendship but actually a mature romance. It's a rare thing to seen two kids fall in love, the only time I really saw that was the dark fantasy film "Paperhouse", I find it interesting because there is a sense of innocence and discover about it, which makes it all the more beautiful. Two scenes of this is one when Oskar tests Eli on the consequences of not inviting her in, and we see her hemorage and then he imediately invites her and appoligizes which is what a good significant other should do. And then that scene when both kiss.

Oskar and Eli are soulmates that have found one another in the darkness.
