W. is an uneven but sometimes riveting account of Bush's life. I was actually slightly disappointed by Brolin's acting; at times he seemed a caricature, but in his sometimes over the top but still resonant battles with his father (an excellent James Cromwell, who does not stoop to parody at all) he shows more depth. Elizabeth Banks as Laura Bush was also very good, and Richard Dreyfuss as Cheney was appropriately creepy and menacing. All in all, despite it's obviousness at times, this was still a film with power, expect when it relies on easy targets, like Condi's nasally voice and Bush choking on a pretzel.
