This film is one of the best horror films I've seen in this decade (in my book anyway). After that crapfest (at least I thought it was) "Spider Man 3" I was begining to fear one of my favorate directors was losing his touch, but this film proves he still has it. Sam went back to basics by going back into the horror genere which is where he started, it's been about 17 years since he made another horror film and he's came back strong and I hope it's not his last. The whole film plays out like a folklore tale only modernized. It's true that the plot is a bit out there but that's a good thing because it has that element of puting the extrodinary into the ordinary and it felt plasable.

I did like the main protagonist Christine (Alison Lotherman) she was likeable, there was some dept to her which made us know her enough, and sympathetic, okay may'be not completely and I'll explain that. In most horror/suspense films a main protagonist case is always simply wrong place, wrong time. But in this one it's simply about one bad choice that proves fatal. With her charcter when she makes that choice you can easily see she could of easily avoided it but she let her own desires override her but also just simply the business of the bank. Her character has a bit of a moral ambiguity, the choice she made wasn't total bad for me I could easily understand and forgive her for it. But she learns the hard way that choices always have consequences, as we see thoughout the whole ordeal she makes a few more bad choices along the way the make things a bit worse. Thoughout the film I couldn't help but feel dread I didn't want what was going to happen happen to her but there wasn't anything I could do about it nor was I sure she could either. Justin Long I thought was good as well there was good chemestry between him and Christine. He's a psychologist that's smart, dryly funny, but most of all I really like how he really felt like a good significant other because he did what any good one should do which is support the one he loves though and though. The suspense is great top notch, I actually jumped three or four times in this film and that's something that doesn't happen to me much and it's a great feeling. The whole film you don't feel safe, sometimes what seems obvious isn't and what isn't obvious is. It really knows how to trick you, where you can't even trust your own judgement. The film is also a bit funny it's not always too serious, the humor is more physical and it's executed well and actually made me laugh my head off, it's almost "Looney Tunes" like humor. One part that made me crack up was when Christine barfed out blood, I didn't laugh imediately when it happened but more afterward when it regestered, I really loved the reaction when we see the fact she actually puked a little on her boss. I really loved the special effects they were top notch and all used the right way. There was some CGI but not much and used right, I really love the shadow effects which I found really spooky. But most of it use simply old fashioned but timeless and effective methods, like simple noises in the walls, inadimate objects moving, some great cinamatography most of it Sam's fast close up trademark. Some make up effects mainly on the evil old gypsy woman whom began to look like one of the deadites from the "Evil Dead" series. There are even some gore and gross out effects. All this really helps in contributing to the suspense and horror.

And I love the music score from Christopher Young, whom did the score for one of my favorate horror films (and one I also reviewed) "Hellraiser". It really has that sense of moodyness and doom which fits like a glove for this film.

The ending I wouldn't say is much of a supprise and yet it is, because it's like you kinda saw it coming and yet you didn't, but I'll just say it left me with a chilled and slightly sad feeling inside.

"Drag Me To Hell" will scare the hell out of you but most of all you'll have a hellva good time.

I keep trying to examine this movie to find something wrong and ot's just not happening for me this moie could be the most perfect original horror film in years ,it's not your run of the mill Saw or remake that come out way to often (except the saw films I love them) it's Good horror Awsome jump out your seat moments they don't even need much blood they go with making you cringe in other ways and you can walk away from this film being happy not ripped off an any way,And! it proves to me that Sam Rami still has it and how great he really still is

This movie was much better than I expected. I went in thinking it was gonna be something stupid, and it was, but the good kind of stupid. It was purposefully funny and at the same time scary. In all honesty, it's probably the best horror movie I've ever seen. It sets itself apart from all the other ridiculous, over-violent torture porn movies like Saw and comes out as a genuine horror/comedy. This is how the Scary Movie franchise should have been made.

If I'm honest...I was a little disappointed. I just expected a little less...cheese. It was gross at times, funny at times. Overall I still think the film was good but not 5 stars like everyones making it out to be. And honestly there was 1 jumpy...

If I'm honest...I was a little disappointed. I just expected a little less...cheese. It was gross at times, funny at times. Overall I still think the film was good but not 5 stars like everyones making it out to be. And honestly there was 1 jumpy moment which was kind of ruined for me by trailers I'd seen on TV. Not trying to put anyone off this film, it IS worth seeing however, it is kinda cheesy so be prepared.
