AMAZING CG ! Absolutely fascinating :-) Story was so-so imo. But still watchable.

A pretty decent film that is not a must-see but do not overlook it either. Keanu Reeves, who plays Klaatu, performs his role extremely well actually making you think that he is in fact an alien. The basic plot is that Klaatu arrives to Earth to tell the people that they will be exterminated because they have been screwing up the planet and it (not the people) needs to be saved. Of course, then the humans try to find a way to stop this from happening and that is how the movie is. There is nothing really great about this movie (the special effects are pretty cool) but it is a movie to watch and be entertained if there is nothing else to do.

Rent It - "An interesting remake of a cold war classic, that fails to have the same gravity." As remakes go, you could do much worse than this. The updates and modernization fit and do well in most instances. In the end what makes the film feel flat is the message they covey has little impact. With out the cultural climate of the Cold War, it's hard to sell the theme to a more jaded modern audience.
