But don't let that fool you, this is not a low budget film. I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy that this early in the year, there is already a great movie to see. Most of the movies of 2008, haven't been that great, 27 Dresses was forgettable, Meet the Spartans is already one of the worst of the year, Untraceable is unwatchable, Over Her Dead Body was a treat but Cloverfield had me in applause. The only minor problem I have with this movie is that this is post 9/11 in Manhattan, and myself being a New Yorker, was a little emotional at the thought that 9/11 was nothing compared to this. Definitely see this though, great, amazing movie.

Fun and entertaining. I had heard mixed reviews about Cloverfield but the idea intrigued me. The handheld personal video style worked for me. It produced a lot of tension and excitement. The movie really used the handheld video camera to it's best. There is a time when the auto focus is used to great effect. I also like the brief moments when the video that is being over written comes through.

an amazing movie, arguably the best horror/monster in a long while! Sure people may think it is offensive to americans, (due to the 9/11-esque buildings falling) but themovie stays strong to the hype and the viral marketing ties in perfectly. slusho*, the oil rig**, all of your favorite viral marketing campaigns are here! As far as the first-person filming goes, some people (mainly the weak of stomach) can get nauseous, but it just adds to the suspense! You don't see the monster until late in the movie, but you do see snipits of it every now and then. If you are not the monster-attacking-New-York-type, stay away from the movie. although many people find it to be ONLY a monster movie, there is an important love story between beth and rob, two of the main characters. This love story drives the story very well, causing the story to be extremely interesting. The movie attracts to almost all except for the few i mentioned earlier. Overall, 'Cloverfield' is one of the best movies out now so I STRONGLY suggest you either buy or rent the movie soon or now! That is why i give it a perfect 5 out of 5

The movie doesn't really explain what the monster is or where it came from and all you get are glimpses of it [you get to see it at the end]. The end is somewhat upsetting but I didn't expect much from the end. I like the movie because you get to see the characters run around the city while your sightseeing other than that you can say it's a little above average.

Cloverfield is a good monster movie, in Cloverfield, there is a giant monster than comes to Earth, and finds itself in Manhatten. While the film's first 15 minutes are quite slow it soons gets going, with the destruction of the Statue of Liberties head.

The monster is confirmed dangerous and the (dumb) military tries to take it down, however, mostly failing, and occassionally thinking they one and dying painful deaths.
SEVERE WARNING: Anybody who suffers from motion related sickness of any kind should NOT see Cloverfield.

I enjoyed the movie

The PG-13 rating was a little edgy. There was a bit of language and someone explodes behind a silohoutte

This is a hard one to think about, the movie started out real slow but once it got going with the monster it got very good, as soon as I saw the head of the statue of liberty land on the ground with claw marks I was hooked.

This movie also can be nauseating at times not just with the camera controls but also in the gore and violence that the huge creature,and the little creepy shrieking creatures, bring about. Enjoyable for special effects, thrills, and a little humor.

Great movie. This did for giant monster movies like "28 Days Later" and "28 Weeks later" did for zombie movies. Basically, it took the idea and made it very realistic and all the more horrifying.
