88 minutes was probably one of the worst movies Pacino ever starred in. There was nothing wrong about his performance though. DeNiro has not been in his best when it comes to acting the last few years. Pacino has been good but he has chosen the wrong movies to star in. They have been in the same movie twice before, in one of them they actualy had a scene together, one scene, in Michael Mann´s "Heat" from 1995. When I earlier this year heard about them being toghether in a new movie I was realy exited. They are, after all, two of the best actors that have ever lived. I saw later that Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson was in the movie, I wasn´t as exited anymore. Later in a trailer I saw that the director was Jon Avnet (The guy who made 88 minutes) I was barely exited at all. And then of cource came all the reviews and comments on how bad it was. I didn´t know if I wanted to see this movie. Maybe it would change my mind about these two brilliant actors. Now I finaly went to see it, and I have to say... it wasn´t THAT bad. Yes the stroy was not original at all, it felt like just another cop movie, and it was. I don´t think this movie would be anything special without Pacino and DeNiro. The script is not that well writte. It feels like most of the scenes are very rushed, that they just wasnt to get it done as fast as possible. This makes all the characters very flat and boring, but Pacino and DeNiro saves this with their performances. We all know that they can never realy make a "bad" performance. I felt that they did their job and stood out in this movie as better actors, but they had very bad dialouge to go with. They´ve thrown in a joke or 2 to make it more entertaining, but it feels like all that they do (Pacino and DeNiro) is joke about each other and call each other words all the way through. The twist at the end is pretty good, bu you where kinda expecting something like that half-way through the movie (without spoiling too much). Righteous Kill was not a horrible movie, it is entertaining and fun for the moment but certanly not anything you´ll remember for a very long time.
