This movie was most unusual, especially considering when it was made/released, To start off, the movie was show in theaters in digital 3D, but if you watch it on DVD, you won’t notice that they tried to make to movie extra 3D-ish, also you will notice that the movie has a slow frame rate, and color, similar to that in Corpse Bride, it becomes more colorful. In any case about the movie itself; the movie was a kid's movie, but it had a kid’s message, which is not the easiest to process, in some cases even in adolescent (teenage) brains. But the lesson will not be perceived in an absolutely wrong way, even though some young minds may not be able to grasp there concept completely, they should understand it at least partly. In any case i thought that this movie was very well made, ad with many no-so-interesting movies coming out now, this was a good one, but in all fairness, I have seen better.

Coraline is a stop animation film based on Neil Gaiman's book called Coraline. It tells the story of a young girl who has recently moved to a house called the pink palace. Her parent's spend there time working and never talk to Coraline so she becomes bored.Soon Coraline finds a small little door in her new house leading to an alternative version of her life. Her parents there are more fun and listen too her..and they have button eyes!
Soon Coraline visits there often and when things start to turn sour Coraline has to save herself from the peril she walked into. This film is beautiful on its own without the story for the animation it brilliant.I love this film sooo much its happy and creepy too!.Ive also read other reviews saying "Oh...it was REALLY scary..I had to walk out of the cinema".Well I understand. One scene really makes this film change from spooky to...Freaky,and that is the Second Other Father scene. To me this really was the only scene that made me feel a bit unsettled,BUT since its only 8 second's long I wouldn't really be that botherd. So dont be put off its a good film..just a bit freaky in places!

Quite unusual as you most likely can tell as you look at the previews, it is really as good as I could have thought it could be. This is about as close to The Nightmare before Christmas as these films have been in a really long time.

Coraline is a thrilling family flick that had me glued to my seat throughout the whole thing. The animation, the characters, and everything else about this movie was almost flawless! I loved it!

Coraline tells the story about a girl named Coraline who's bored of her life after she moves into a new house. One day, she opens a door that leads her into a world just like hers, exept this world is better, the food, the garden and even her other parents but there is something weird about this world, everybody has buttons for eyes, and Coraline's other mother wants to sew buttons into Coraline's eyes and she wants her to stay....forever.
Based on the book by Neil Gaiman.
I would just like to start off that the stop motion animation is outstanding. It's pretty amazing how people can make something like that but the story however, is laking something. I read the book 3 times and I loved it so I had to see the movie but as always, the book is somewhat different from the movie. Some scenes were taken out of the movie, new things are put in, there is an annoying new character that wasn't in the book and I found the movie somewhat childish and whismsical. This movie could have been 2x more darker considering that it's from the director of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" but it doesn't get dark until the last half an hour, sadly. Maybe I would have liked it better if I haven't have read the book.

This movie presents a wonderful, spectacular, wild world that could only be found in the realm of stop-frame animation. The sets are awe-inspiring, the characters move really slick, and everything is cleverly done in this modern day revision of an "Alice In Wonderland" type tale. Coraline Jones is a girl who feels as though she deserves more than what she has. Namely, a cruddy old house with inattentive parents and eccentric, aloof neighbors. But one night, quite by accident, Coraline discovers something amazing. In her house, lies a small door just big enough for her to go through. And through that door during the night time, a portal opens up to a parallel world. The world Coraline enters is like a mirror image of her real world. But there are a few subtle differences. In this realm, Coraline finds things that truly astound her. Within this new world, is a new home with another mother and another father. What Coraline finds out is that in this realm, she has an 'Other' Mother and an 'Other' Father. Not only that, the Other Mother and Other Father are head-over-heels in love with her. They present her delicious, exotic food that thrills her senses, inventions and presentations that excite her mind, and neighbors who are pleasant to be around and very entertaining to her as well. This other world has got Coraline feeling like she's on cloud 9. But this movie has a valuable message. And that message is that you shouldn't judge things by their outside appearance. While this other world seems like a dream come true, there are a couple of things off about this world that hide something sinister beneath the surface. The other people wear buttons for eyes, and the other neighbors don't look like Coraline's real neighbors in the real world. Coraline soon discovers that she may be in danger, and will soon have to prove her bravery and ingenuity in order to escape from this other world and rescue her real parents. A couple of scenes might be scary for the extremely young set, but other than that, it's a completely perfect film for the entire family that I would highly recommend to everyone. Enough said! ;)
