Hmm, I like Drake Bell and he did a good enough job in this, but that doesn't change the fact that it's not a very good movie. It tries to hard and the script follows Spiderman 1 too closely to be funny. What a shame...

Drake Bell really makes it good been the main person in the movie and really proves how good of an actor he really is. Wolverine should of been used because it only had a really and i mean really small part you blink you would miss him. The movie is short only about 1 hour 10 mins without the credits but better quality and better acting then Meet the Spartans this is worth checking out. Trust me the jokes are not bad they were actually funny.

There is no more hope. After all the disasters of the “Movie� series, it looked like this film, Superhero Movie, could just stop the trend of bad parodies. But even there, with some good ingredients, the movie simply fails at everything. And I think that we can all say that the day where we will be able to see a good parody movie is far from today.

After being bitted by a dragonfly, a student gets superpowers and will have to battle the Hourglass, a villain that sucks the life of others to be younger. Now, if you find this synopsis really too short, let me tell you that the movie is that simplistic when it comes to the story. But as you can see it laughs more of Spider-Man than anything else.

When I talked about good ingredients in my introduction, I was kinda serious. Superhero Movie has two things that could have make this film not good, but not that bad: the concept and Leslie Neilsen. The idea of start of mostly parodying the first Spider-Man movie is good when you think about it enough. I mean the first Scary Movie mostly parodied Scream (they even had the director of Scream for this movie) and it wasn’t so bad at the end. The other good ingredient is the casting of Leslie Neilsen, from The Naked Gun. Sure he had appeared on other crappy movies but here it looked like it could make a difference. Still, they found a way to screw up everything.
First up, the script of the movie is true crap. Maybe the idea of Spider-Man is good on paper, but when you think about it a little more, you find out that the series is parodied a whole lot. So if they are making another film on it, they better blow us away, because if they don’t, it will suck a whole lot… and that’s what happened. The jokes make you laugh a little bit at first (and I mean dumb humor, not REAL humor), but after 10 minutes, it’s just too freakin’ much. The biggest problem here is that a big part of the gags are simple pop culture references, like MySpace and Facebook. And all of them are really, really poor. Also, when they do make joke about superheroes, they are really predictable and they never really work. In fact, a whole bunch of jokes are predictable to death. But there’s even worse: most of what we can consider truly funny can already be seen on the trailers, clips or TV spots. It’s a really big problem in this case because the rest is just embarrassing. After some time, you end up just waiting that the movie ends so you can get out of here.

Both casting and acting in here is horrible. They sure got one good actor (Neilsen) in this film, but what remains is just **** You got the guy from Drake & Bell and the girl from Aquamarine. How can you make a good movie with that? Maybe if only one of them was in a movie, it could still have chance, but here there are both! And they’re with other actors that are young and awful at the same time. The acting is also bad. Now you might say that it’s normal because after all, it’s a parody. But that’s not a good excuse anyway, because even for a movie that makes fun it’s still bad.

The ending was weak, and that’s the proper word for it. And seriously, I don’t think I saw the entire ending! When I saw the first name of the ending credits, I just wanted to do one thing: stand up and get out of the cinema. And guess what, that’s exactly what I did. I didn’t care if there was another scene after that (and there certainly was), but the movie was so bad that maybe the lights weren’t on yet, but the start of the credits was for me the signal for “I need to get out of there�. I could continue and tell everything that sucked about Superhero Movie, but that’s beyond the point. And I think that what I said for now is enough to tell to stay the f*** away from this film. If there’s anything good about watching this movie, it’s that I passed my test of movie critic for staying watching the movie, even if it’s so horrible. And thinking that Meet the Spartans is even worse is making me sick. MAKING ME SICK!
