Prom Night only proves that if you've seen one of these crappy teen high school torture porn movie, you've see em' all. Donna's (Snow) teacher slayed her family three years ago, but shes managed to move on and is living with her aunt and uncle. The teacher has now escaped from jail with the intent on crashing the students' prom night and find Donna. All he has is one little knife but the cops think thats reason to cause panic and evacuate the whole place. A piece of "crappolla" like this offers nothing but the usual cheap thrills. People popping out of nowhere, like she goes to the bathroom opens the mirror and closes and BOOOOO!!! How many freakin' times have you seen that one pulled before. Then shes sleeping near her boyfriend who seems to be sleeping but if you give him a little nudge BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! And how many times have you seen that. Tense moment and then she bumps into something AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Oh never mind it's just a lamp. Try to be original maybe. This has been shown a million times over and over again. And correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the whole point of this is that they're trapped in a hotel but they're only in the damn hotel for less than 15 minutes. Then they're at her house because this teacher managed to outwit the clueless cops again. HOOOOORAAYYYYYY!!!! NOT!!!

Ugh... Prom Night... I have to consider this to be one of the pointless re-makes of all time. Not because the film being remade was a work of art, but because the film being remade was just average. It was good, but not great. It was entertaining and scary. Okay, scary-ish. There was no reason for the film to be remade. Well, what we have here is a very stupid, dull, badly acted, badly written, etc. re-make of an okay film. But there are four letters wrong with this movie: PG-13. Yes, PG-13. Okay, that's two letters, one dash, and two numbers. But you get my point. Had this film been R rated I might have enjoyed it more. There would have been more blood, and more blood can sometimes make a better movie. Now, it still would have been mediocre... Well horrible, actually, but I would have gotten to see the bad actors and annoying characters get cut up into little tiny bits and gobbled up by the boring killer. That would have gotten the movie a D- from me instead of an F+. But no. There is hardly any blood and you never see anyone get stabbed. And when they do get stabbed (I'm talking about one scene in particular) you see blood stains on the shirt, but no stab marks. Okay, now that I've gotten that out of the way, time to start nit-picking!
The plot: A high-school teacher gets obsessed with a female student and stalks her. Then he kills her family. Happy, happy, joy, joy. Said female student goes to live with her aunt and uncle. On the night of her senior prom, the killer escapes his cage that he was locked in (well he escaped a few days before said event) and kills the female's friends. It all ends up with the killer getting killed by the cliche rough and tough police man.
The acting: Horrible. That's all that needs to be said, but that's not all I will say. The actors spoke so softly that I could hardly hear them. So I missed out on certain plot points. Oh, yes, I know, boo-hoo. The only tolerable actor (or actress, in this case) was Brittany Snow.
Wow. I'm terrible sorry, but I realize that I have gone on for far too long about this movie. Seeing how's this is my first very detailed movie review I'm not sure where to go with it from here. (After all, reviewing a film is not like reviewing a video game.) Well, to make a long review short, the movie is horrible. Just horrible. The only reason I gave the film one star instead of a measly half-a-star is such: the annoying characters all die!!! :) Well, not all of them, but enough to make me happy. And, Brittany Snow was an okay actress.

The original, while not great, was at least tolerable. This is just unbearable. Predictable, boring and cliched as hell. The only good thing about it is Brittany Snow. But, still, it's just another stupid PG-13 remake. And a forgettable one at that.

The story was a little plain considering what's been done in the last 40 years - over and over again. It wasn't done too badly though. It managed to keep a bit of suspense at times.

One thing that seemed strange was how little blood they showed in the movie. For a slasher film it seemed like they were going for classy I guess? Every time someone was stabbed they seemed to find a way to cover it up or not show it. I'm sure it was for effect in some way but that seemed a bit lost along the way.

Also they do a bunch of the cat jumping out stuff so expect to be annoyed by that from time to time.

It was just alright. If you like slasher films, here's another one - go nuts.

The suspense in this movie is no laughing matter. Everytime you hear silence or someone is in a room by themselves the killer comes out of nowhere and either slits their throat or strangles them in order for him to get to Donna (Brittany Snow).

A high school teacher becomes a little too obsesed with one of this students and starts to stalk her and kills her parents and little brother. Three years later, the girl, Donna is living with her aunt and uncle and goes to her senior prom with her friends. The teacher escapes and terrorises her prom by killing her friends and hotel employes.

Don't be fooled by the trailers. When I first saw the previews, I thought this movie might have some hope. But the movie ended up being sort of corny. The movie dragged a lot. You see someone get killed, then shows Donna dancing with her friends, then someone else is killed again continues like this. The only good part was the sequence at the end.
Please, save your money and see something else.
Wait for this one on DVD.
