This film left me shell shocked with a mixture of amzement, sympathy and simply breath taking images. The story line itself is fairly simple however the way it is portrayed is astonishing. Some parts of the film are slow but it is made up for by the amazing imagery that you have to admire as the film progresses. You are constantly drawn in to the character Alex/Chris. His history, his aims for the future and his unique mentality on life. The morals of the story are so true. The final scene is symbolic and is a great climax to the journey we have followed our character on. Overall, a breathtakingly beautiful fim.

This was a real tour de force for Sean Penn and all in this production. Hirsch was brilliant as Christopher McCandless who seals himself into isolation before he even goes off into the wild. The pacing was well-executed as we really see that all the people, his parents, sister, everyone, was isolated an in their own wild solitude with no connection. In the end, he scribbles in his journal, his last attempt, a real attempt, but it's too late. Then they all connect in different times. Maybe it's never too late. Haunting and brilliant, subtlety is the ost difficult thing!

I didnt knew that its a real life story till at the end when it was mentioned there. The tragic end was quite sad and I feel sympathy for the family. This movie knocks our heart to think about about relationships which we keep making in our lives...

i have to aggre with west coast willam it was preety good and based of a true story wich makes it all the better chris/supertramp stayed from place to place but found out he did knot like it so he moved on but each time he didnt like it so he just went up to alaska and tryed to live but he found out that its harder than it looks and he starts to starv becauz he could not keep the flys of his kill in time so he be gane eating poisin barries then he later found out that they wernt edbile so he got dissy and felt bad then he died this flim left me breathless and speachless i would recomend it to anny one even kids more people should review this and tell people the flim should have made more money i would wacth this before i die this movie is great!!!
