As a reader of the comic before the movie, it stayed basically true to it until the end. Without revealing any spoilers this how I felt about the move.

The intro the movie was very well done. It gave you a feel of how things were before the Keene Act. The graphics and CGI stuff in the flick was very well done. I never expected anything less from Snyder.
The Rorschach character was played to the T as to what the comics stood for. The mask itself was amazingly done. His narration throughout the film gave you a nice feel for what happened to The Comedian. He not only set the tome for the entire film as to how he acted, it just made the film interesting. His psych evaluation lets you know why he is the way that he is. Great scene for the jail too.

Dr. Manhattan's character was decent. I'm not sure why some let the private parts of the man to effect the way they enjoyed the character. He did make many upset as to how distant he was and how he felt humans or life was overrated, when he was once human himself. His role was not huge, but it did make an impact.

His girlfriend's role in the graphic novel was much better on screen. She was serious and relevant too. She was just seen as a sex object or anything like that. Her outfit was hideous.

The Owl II's part was played extremely well. His jet or whatever it is was modeled well after the novel. It looked cool. Archie as he called her flew well and did her job.

Veidt's arrogance was felt through the movie up until the very end. they way he just showed off his intelligence was rude and yet I ate it up. He literally made you want to kill him.

All in all this was a good film and one of the best from 2009.

What would you do to bring peace in the world? That's one of the biggest questions asked in the movie without asking it outright.

Based on the graphic novel, Watchmen stays true to it in many ways.

The movie takes place in 1985, as Russia and the U.S. are in a nuclear war. Superheroes aren't involved in it besides the god like Dr. Manhattan, who tries and aids the U.S. in the war. After one of the Watchen, The Comedian, is murdered, Rorschach, a ink-blot masked vigilante tries to solve the murder and to try and reunite all of the Watchmen to help him. He finds cover-ups and such. The story is one of the really strong parts in this movie, since it does such a powerful job, if you are willing to follow it. I really can not say anymore without giving away a ton of spoilers, so I'll just stop there.

This movie is definitely not for kids due to the extreme violence, and sexual behavior, which was not as much as I thought there would be, and the overall dark tone to the movie.

The characters are really believable here as superheroes who are going through a stressful time trying to stop the nuclear war going on between Russia and the U.S., and their own personal problems as well. The characters stayed true to their graphic novel counterparts, and each one seemed fit to play the role perfectly.

Overall I really, really enjoyed this movie. A movie that shouldn't be missed by fans of the graphic novel, or people that think it looks interesting. The visual effects were simply dazzling.

When I started, I was expecting to see another superhero movie, but was slightly surprised how different "Watchmen" was from movies like X-Men and Fantastic Four.

There was a lot more graphic violence - and sex - than I expected. The latter didn't even seem all that important for the story. The brutal, straightforward violence, on the other hand, gave the movie a sharp undertone.

The beginning of the movie was very nice, but when the titles began rolling, it seemed to take almost too long. There were phases in the plot where things didn't seem to move in any important direction, but those didn't last long enough to ruin the general air of the movie.

I liked Dr. Manhattan a lot. The actor, and the character's struggle was the best part of the movie.

Roschach's monologue reminded me of "Sin City". All in all, his character was very wicked and broken. I couldn't get enough of that shifting mask of his.

All in all the movie carries itself pretty well from start to finish. It is dark, wicked, powerful, and brings forth many different feelings from joy to utter loss.

The soundtrack sounded "old", which matched the era of the movie, in my opinion. Other than that, it was hard to imagine it was taking place in a time before I was even born.

Watchmen is one of the all time great graphic novels. It's considered by most to be the greatest comic ever made. While the movie isn't up to par with the comic, it's certainly close. As it stands in comic form, Watchmen, along with a lot of the trendsetters of its time, changed the face of what a comic could be. As a movie, however, it doesn't measure up. The medium of movies had long been doing what comics were just getting around to.

I found the movie quite stunning. It's visually astounding, drawing you back into the 80's, and capturing the comic quite nicely. The attention to detail is wonderful. The score really adds depth to movie and is the one thing that the comics can't grasp. Many of the songs that are mentioned in the comic are also present. I found the acting enjoyable and there aren't many cheesy moments that make you groan. It's surprising that the majority of the actors are unknown to the greater population. I was particularly thrilled at Jackie Earl Haley as Rorschach. All in all, I think the movie replicates the comic quite nicely, and that's the big issue. Watchmen is fan service. As great as it is, the majority of people who go to see it won't have a clue what's going on. It's exceedingly long. At over 2 1/2 hours for the theatrical cut, 3 for the director's cut, and 3 1/2 for the ultimate cut, most people won't be able to sit through it. Hopefully though, the people that watch the movie will be interested in reading the graphic novel. I view the movie as a condensed version of the comic and therefore not the total package, but a good watch nonetheless. However, until then, Watchmen will remain a fan favorite in those that read the comic before the movie. In the end, is it good? Yes. Is it great? Only to those that already enjoyed the comic. With time I think that the movie will rate higher than it does now with the general public, but until then it's the best comic book movie made that the fans can watch.
