There were some GREAT parts with a lot of little "meh, that was clever, I guess" moments...I could give a whole **** star just to Jack White's cameo (and cameos there are TONS of...am I the only one who wants Kristen Wiig to star in her own movie already?) as Elvis and the whole scene when he's sort of tried to be talked out of smoking weed.

Walk Hard is a "fake" biopic based on such films as Ray & Walk the Line. It's not a straight up parody; it treats the material as if Dewey Cox really existed and that's one of the reasons this film works.
The other reason Walk Hard works is John C. Reilly, who plays the oblivious and sometimes infantile title character of Dewey Cox. This isn't a Will Ferrell over-the-top performance. Reilly plays the role mostly as a straight man with a very subtle comical performance that only occasionally ventures into the land of absurdity- and even those times are mostly drug induced. Reilly is so likeable and charismatic that he carries the film and is the glue that holds all the superb supporting players together. It also doesn't hurt that he's a pretty damn good singer!
The movie follows Cox from when he was a little boy and accidentally cut his brother in half with a machete, to his teenage years when he gets married to his first wife, to his adult "experimental" years, all the way to his later "making up for lost time" years. It really is a funny movie that I sat through THREE times because I enjoyed it so much; once for the regular theatrical release, second for the extended director's cut, and a third time with the commentary on. It's even funnier knowing the background stories and insights associated with many of the jokes within the movie.

A great parody, real fun to watch with friends. It's as hilarious as Talladega Nights and as absurd as the better Scary Movies movies (One and Three)

The sink joke got funnier and funnier every time.

I know this is a farce of Walk the line. But i do not have respect for them to make fun of that movie because there pretty much trying to make fun of johnny cashes whole life. Which is stupid i grew up with johnny's music and am a great fan of his and i do not see anyone to make slightly of his life a hour long ha ha wheres the joke in this.
If there going to make a farce movie how about they do one with a one hit singer. At least there we can laugh at there failed career.
If you enjoyed this well i see no way for someone to actually like this.
There was no story to it and it jumped around so many times i was laughing at the parts they were walking YES walking scenes!
I thought i was going mad for this movie to end.
I wanted to throw myself out of the balcony and set myself on fire. But lucky the movie ended and i was able to escape the horror of the worst movie of 2007.
Do not waste your time there is better comedy's then this just go to your local video store and look around but do not pick this up because its not worth a penny it was made with!

very rarely do the people who made this movie make bad comedies. They are known for their great comedic movies. This is not one of them. This movie falls flat on its face from the beginning and never seems to get up. Walk Hard tells the story of a fictional singer named dewey cox and his life and times. Basically what they did was take bits of all the other music movies and try to thrown them into one movie. The basic movie they follow is walk the line with a few others thrown in. Reilly is more of a character actor but in this movie he takes the lead. He is good but there is not much here for him to work with. The acting in this movie is average at best and there are a bunch of uncredited cameos. The music in this movie is decent with the main tune being actually pretty catchy. They show cox changing from decade to decade in supposedly comedic ways. I really cannot recommend this movie because it does not deliver on the laughs. Maybe if it was made by someone other then the people that made this movie it would be viewed as good. You tend to expect more from these guys and when they rush something like this out its a shame. You could tell by the box office of the movie that its not good. Skip it.

John C. Reilly stars as Dewey Cox, the fictional legendary country singer in this spoof comedy. The film is a parody of the biopics of Ray Charles (Ray) and Johnny Cash (Walk the line). Cue lots of piss take moments like becoming traumatised due to accidentally cutting his brother in half with a machete as a young boy. He'll meet the Beatles and Elvis and they're just as nuts. The story goes through the familiar route of him trying every drug there is, getting hooked, falling in love with his duet partner (Jenna Fischer) then him going mental after his initial success, "I want an army of didgeridoo's!"
There are funny bits of dialogue and some of the songs are amusing, but there are only so many 'Cox' puns you can get away with in one film.
