Mad Money is one of those movies that gets you thinking why the studio couldn't find another project to pour their money in today's economy, or maybe they actually thought that this would make "mad money". The characters in this film are so uninteresting that you can't really root for them. Diane Keaton is Bridgette, an elderly upper class woman who for some reason becomes a janitor in a bank. Ted Danson plays her eccentric husband. Her co workers are the even more eccentric Jackie, played by Katie Holmes, and annoying and whiny Nina, played by Queen Latifah. Out of nowhere Bridgette gets the idea to rob the bank. The system has never been beaten but somehow these dimwits pull it off and eventually get caught. The acting is fourth rate, the screenplay is amateruish, and the overall story is tired. The only thing that really got me through this was Ted Danson's performance. In 2008, could they really not come up with anything slightly better that two aging women and an amature kid to show audiences. Their whole plan didn't even make any sense and I really don't see why anyone should waste their time with this. Go enjoy yourself at an actual worthy film.

What can I say about this movie. It has two good lead actors and a bad one (holmes). It seems to be an interesting idea but ultimately it falls flat. Keaton plays a house wife who is married to danson who gets layed off. Suddenly she is confronted with being poor soooo instead of being NORMAL she decides to get a job and in going to that job she devises a plan to rob her job. She just happens to get a job at the federal bank where they shred and burn money. Then she gets the great idea of stealing the money all under the noses of video cameras and people all over the place. If this plot sounds ridiculous its because it is. The very idea that someone could work at this bank and steal the money from right under everybodies noses is ludicrous. Do not get me wrong its not a little bit of money. I am talking about millions of dollars. Then they end up going on a spending spree all the while nobody says anything to them. Keaton goes and buys a very expensive bracelet and wears it to work like nothing. Oh yes that makes a lot of sense. The acting is average with a particular low light coming from holmes. Its almost as if she forgot how to act hanging out with cruise for so long. Very wooden and bad. This is a pretty bad movie which needs to be skipped at all costs.
