Excellent movie that is a mix of Narnia, Free Willy and Eragon. Good script and excellent acting. I thought the special effects were great too, the young creature especially was fantastic! Recommended

A great movie. I loved watching every second of it. The story is fantastic. Just a little bit of fantasy I guess. The actors are great!

"Water Horse" is the tale about a young boy named Angus who finds an egg with some kind of creature. As the movie progresses we find out more about these "things". The boy tries to hide the creature from his mother, and eventually let's it go out into the sea, and when coming back it is now the size of a dragon. Now, it wasn't a terrible film, but it is too loud, too sappy, and too kiddish too recommend, even too the kids.

The CGI for the baby creature was cute and adorable unlike the rest fo the film. At times you completely don't understand what is happening and why. Many kids films made that mistake this year such as "The Golden Compass" and "The Seeker". "Water Horse" might've qualified as a guilty pleasure but it was just too sappy to recommend. I also didn;t like the opening scene when Angus imagines he is in the water and all the little kids are around him. It just seemed too much like something in a movie about pedophiles. All the kids were in swimming suits with these depressing looks and and saggy eyes that are all dark. Maybe some some kids will like it but it's just too weird.

  Personally, I wouldn't take a toddler (unless he was the son of Tarantino) to this intermittently, legitimately terrifying tale of a boy and his Loch Ness monster. But everyone else should blow off "Alvin and the Chipmunks" and show up for the best kiddie picture of the season -- and, along with "Ratatouille," of the year.
