Not as good as expected. Plotline was very confusing and ending was inconculsive. entire movie was climatic, there were no ups and downs.

The storyline for this movie is great in many ways. It has the U.S presedent's fake assassination which you have to piece together that ultimatly leads to an awesome climatic ending. They could have told told us more in the beginning and not repeated as much info in the flashback but that's fine. The mystery surronding the movie and the assassination keeps the story from becoming one boring flashback after another. The acting was great all round in keeping up the deception and mystery. They did a great job keeping the shock of the assasination realistic and not fake looking. The whole point of a movie with mostly flashbacks is great. They made the flashbacks look different using visuals and that also made it great. The car chase scene is good, but it isn't Bond or Bourne worthy. One of the mess-ups in this movie is the body double. He doesn't even look like the presedent. Anyone could tell. Also, sucurity at a convention like that would have been way better than that. Some parts like that were just too unrealistic.

This "puzzle" stars Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, Forrest Whitalker, William Hurt, and Sigourney Weaver, and none of these great actors were able to save this movie. At about the 5th rewind I was checked out. It is all then tied together by an amzingly lurid car chase which never ends and a ridiculus finale. There were many turns but by the time it got to that I already lost my interest. Vantage Point is a very silly and ridiculus peice of crap, that's right, crap. And those of you who decide to disagree with me, just remember we had to sit through the same thing 9 times. When the president is set to make a speech on world peace in Spain Dennis Quaid, who plays a demented agent who notices a flicker in a window. After he alerts his partner, played by Mathew Fox from the best show ever Lost, they start to suspect someone is trying to assassinate the president, played by William Hurt. Well they were right, a huge explosion happens about ten times in rewinds and the president is shot, or is it the president? It would be one thing if the rewinds actually gave us more insight into the mystery, but besides only of them, we're just stuck watching the same thing over and over again. By the time it actually got to something revealing, my interest for the movie had diminished and I just wanted to get out of my seat and go. The screenplay here is one of the most ridiculous all year, and the car chase at the end was wildly unbelievable. Skip this at the theaters and don't look for it on DVD.

Didn't get to watch the whole movie because of the rewinds. I was already frustrated and bored and lost interest once I found out most of the movie was like that. Has anyone seen Groundhog Day? I felt as if the movie wouldn't get to it's climax....

Blurry Lines of Sight Tarnish a Solid ‘Vantage Point’

When the same story is told eight different times through the eyes of eight different people, one expects the story being told to be filled with plenty of opinion, back story and detail. “Vantage Point,� however, directed by Pete Travis, who makes his big-screen directorial debut, lacks the feel of a film that attempts to pull off such a daunting task. Nonetheless, the film is still an entertaining watch and proves to be the movie that relights the star-power fire of Dennis Quaid, while giving Matthew Fox the versatility to be taken seriously in different types of roles.

In 2006, “Babel,� a film starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, was released and took a similar path as this picture. However, director Alejandro González Iñárritu was able to make each segment and narrative of the film feel different enough to captivate the audience and fill in the gaps of the story. What “Vantage Point� does is simply rehash the same story and provide a few more details than the last person was able to reveal. This slow-moving plot that ends with a happily-ever-after ending isn’t exactly going to win Travis any awards this year. Regardless of that, however, there are a few ingredients in the film’s clam chowder to make you reach for your spoon.

Quaid (“Flight of the Phoenix,� “Enemy Mine�) does a great job as Thomas Barnes, the jittery Secret Service agent with something to prove. If his subtle demeanor wasn’t enough to capture his cool, laid-back type of bravado, his wit and ability to clothesline people and Al Unser-like driving skills will. Simply put, this role is something new for Quaid, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad thing for him. He pulls off the never-say-die action hero better than actors half his age in this film and is one of the best reasons to see the feature.

The same can be said for heartthrob Mathew Fox, who’s known for his role on the TV mega-hit, “Lost.� Already armed with killer-good looks and a charisma that was probably responsible for landing him the role, Fox does a more than solid job as agent Kent Taylor. Rather than spoil the plot, let’s just say that Fox’s role definitely will shock fans of his work on “Lost� and will cast him in a different light in the future.

Add in solid supporting roles by Forrest Whitaker (“Ghost Dog,� “The Last King of Scotland�) and Sigourney Weaver (“Ghostbusters,� “Aliens�), and you have a cast that is capable of delivering a quality film. However, the talent in the film far outweighs the sum of the films parts, as the story isn’t nearly as deep and multilayered as you’d expect it to be, making it an adequate 90-minute experience, rather than a breathtaking one.

  The movie is best seen as straightforward, sometimes harrowing melodrama, packed with mistaken identities, beautiful villains, a kindly tourist who can outrace the bad guys, and a lost little girl whom the film brazenly sends onto a highway full of speeding cars.
