The feeling you get while watching, is that this is a superhero comics with some computer FPS mechanics, and everything can happen, sometimes crossing the line of ridiculous, but staying in the realm of fun.
Not for the faint of hearts, though, as some bloody scenes are included.

If you hate films that are all action and no story then dont watch this since this is one of them.I loved the two oposing characters played by clive owen and paul giamatti.I really loved the violence and sex.What I loved most of all though was the nonstop action.Normally im not into those things when i see rated r action movies but when you do a film with a bad story and try to focus on action then you better have those things.Also I loved seeing how many ways you could see someone die with a carrot.So if you want to see some action done right then see this film you wont regret it.

A quite enjoyable action film with some original fight sequences. Unfortunately the director has spent too much time homaging films like "Hard Boiled" and "Desperado", and not enough time giving his film a genuine sense of indiviuality.

"Hard Boiled"'s Inspector Yuen and "Desperado"'s El Mariachi also bring a lot more charisma through in their perforances than Smith does.

I went in expecting the worst. According to At The Movies with Ebert & Roeper, Michael Phillips listed this as the number two worst movie of 2007, and I understand why. Granted, my view here will be one of greater tolerance, this really isn't a great movie. As a matter of fact you will probably have forgotten mostly about it by the time the disc has left the player.

The action is okay, but often dares you not to laugh at it's silliness, one such act being death by carrot. I won't spoil anything, but it's too slapstick to make it into the dark humor territory it seems bent on finding. The cast is pretty good; Monica Bellucci plays a 'hooker with a heart' routine that does nothing to endear, but she's gorgeous and a talented actress, so it's easy to want to care. Clive Owen is grizzled and sharp as a tac, but his corny one-liners and even cornier gunplay actually have me wondering if he wasn't laughing when he'd read the script. Villains are where I get the love here, and Paul Giamatti delivers a good amount of angst which is unfortunately hindered by some of the silliest dialogues I've seen since Kill Bill. I love Kill Bill, but at least that movie reveled in it's shiny, over the top, "look at me!" attitude, whereas this one left me wondering where it wanted to go.

Do not go into this expecting a thrills and spills action flick, but rather accept that it's a live action cartoon by nature, and it will do a lot of goofy things to prove exactly that.

Bad story, lame twists, mediocre action, and a few scattered gems make this a classic mindless popcorn flick. If you've ever heard of The Transporter (not the second one) or Crank, you've got the right idea, problem here is that those films do it better.

Not a bad movie if you must watch it, if not, you're not missing a thing.

At first sight of the mother with the baby I immediately thought, oh no.... don't let her die and have the movie be about the baby. Well, that's what happened, and it turned out to be highly disappointing.

The action scenes in this movie were ridiculous, and the sheer precision of the shooting made the movie extremely far fetched, and didn't allow the viewer to get into the movie. After every action sequence I found myself saying, yeah right, you would never be able to do that.

If you want tons of action, and a poor storyline, this movie is for you, however if you prefer more realistic action movies, steer clear of Shoot Em Up.

I really didn’t know what to expect when I started watching but I was taken totally by surprise. When a movie starts with action 4 minutes into the movie you know you’re in for a thrill ride! Although the story was lacking this movie had action, humor and little bit of the twisted. If Jackie Chan, John Woo and a Looney Tunes cartoon had a child and it was on crack then you would have this movie. This movie starts out crazy and it doesn’t let up until the end. The action sequences are all pretty good and a couple have the added bonus of sizzling guitar driven songs to accompany the fierce action. Any time you add AC/DC or Motley Crue to an action sequence you have the recipe for a good time in my opinion. There are a lot of over the top happenings in the movie. From shooting a merry-go-round rails to make it spin so as to keep a baby that is on it from getting shot to sliding 30+ feet across the floor on his back (on purpose mind you) on an oil patch while shooting accurately at the bad guys, this movie his its share of over the top moments and then some. The cast was good. Like I mentioned before, the story was almost non-existent so there isn’t much to base their performance on. Clive Owen has one liner after one liner. He seemed to fit in the action well and didn’t look out of place. Monica Bellucci is great to look at but her acting, even in a story that doesn’t really matter, is lacking. Paul Giamatti is also in the movie and has my favorite line in the movie. At one point directly after Clive Owen’s character escapes death once again Paul Giamatti looks over to one of his mercenaries and says “Is he that good or do we just suck?� I love that line! I actually liked his performance in this movie because you would never expect to see Paul Giamatti in this kind of movie. Overall I like this movie. Maybe it was the mood I was in when I watched it but I believe that everyone needs a movie that requires no thought and has exciting, entertaining action that leaves your mouth wide open or makes you laugh out loud. If that is the case or that is the kind of movie you like then this is the movie for you.

  The saving grace in an exuberantly graceless movie is Clive Owen. This actor is bulletproof. Even in a sick-joke jamboree like Shoot 'Em Up, he mows down the competition and gets his laughs without losing his composure.
