When I went to the screening for Charlie Wilson's War, I wasn't sure what to expect. I came out of the room with it being one of my favorite films. Charlie Wilson's War is definately one of the best movies of the year. I LOVED THIS FILM! The acting is amazing, especially from Phillip Seymour Hoffman, who does a tremendous job as a grouchy CIA spy. There is not one dull or inauthentic moment in an unfortunately only one hour and a half hour. As soon as the movie was over I just wanted more. Everyone gives an Oscar worthy performance. And what I also love about this film is that it is made up of these few minute conversattions that just portray why this film is so good.

Every time there was a conversation between the characters it was funny, and clever, and even if I didn't like this film, i would recommend it just for the conversations. I particularly love the scene between Phillip Seymour Hoffman and John Slattery, who's in this motion picture for only a few minutes. In that scene you know what kind of guy Phillip Seymour Hoffman is playing. That scene portrays him. And I love how Hoffman later answers a question, asked by Julia Robert's charcter, "Are you pationatly involved with the cause of the Afghans?" and he just simply answers, "I had nothing better to do", and it was just so damn funny.

The first time Hoffman's character and Hank's charcter meet, it is the stuff of great movies. There was also a nice scene in a plane when Hanks talks to his assistant played by the tallented young Amy Adams. It was so nice and heart felt which is how most of the movie was even though it was about a war.

One thing I noticed was when the chairman was giving that speech in Afghanistan, there was a dark music in it, I think it was because they were talking about weapons and how god punishes the wicked and how Ameica will always be ont he side of the good.Oscourse what Charlie Wilson did, ultimately led up to the 9/11 attacks. It's hard to watch at times because, the movie portrays our mistakes in helping Afgahnastan. Even though you wonder if Charlie Wilson is a good guy or a bad guy, Tom Hanks just does such a good job portraying him as this funny chamring guy.

There were three flaws though. One, the scene where the Soviets come into Afghanastan and start shooting seemed a little too much like a video game. Another one was that, some of the charcters would say, "Let's kill some Russians". It was very degrading and rude. Another was, the scene when Afghans are shooting down planes, they made it too comical.

But depsite the minor flaws I loved this film. One of the most amazing pictures of the 21st Century.
