BUT, just like every other Steven King movie/book, the last quarter of the movie nearly ruined the whole thing for me...

Quit reading if you don't want SPOILERS...

the "twist" where both the character and audience are meant to be tricked into thinking he's left the room, was ill paced... it slowed the movie to a crawl in an attempt to lull the viewer, but any horror fan worth his/her salt... or even anyone whose seen a movie in the past 10 years... wasn't fooled one bit, but instead annoyed. I did like the idea of his sacrifice and the last "Boo"... however it seemed way too cheesy and over the top emotional.

This is one of the best ghost stories I have ever seen. I really love this movie, especially the ending. It's abuot an author who writes about haunted hotel rooms. I woun't tell you more, just watch it.

A great film which brilliantly built up the suspense throughout. John Cusack plays an author who writes about haunted hotel rooms, discrediting their supernatural claims. Then he comes to the Dolphin Hotel in New York City, meets the manager (Samuel L. Jackson), and eventually attains the key to the room. What follows is an hour (brilliantly woven in) that will make him a believer, in his attempt to try and survive. However, even at only 94 minutes, the film is too long, and should have ended about ten minutes earlier. The exceptional twist when the clock hit zero would have been a great way to end the movie, while the final five minutes dragged and I was expecting a better twist ending.

This is one of the best Ghost stories I've seen in a long time... Great 'The Grudge' like camera work... John Cusack is a great skeptic... Samuel L. Jackson is wasted in his minor role, but if you like Ghost stories, watch this one =)

I only wish that the filmmakers hadn't felt the necessity to throw in some of the standard scary movie tropes that dumbed down the whole production for me: the creepy little dead girl, the jump-cuts, etc. Still, a very enjoyable movie.
