Remakes can a be disater or a success, and this one is just concidence. This edition of a "remake" from Don Siegel's pulp classic, "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (also from Jack Finney novel) might have fallen off a cliff and have raisen a new rendition of genocide called The Invasion. Don Siegel's pulp classic, "The Invasion of the Body Snatchers" was first inspired by Jack Finney as the story occurs when a pandemic virus(pods from a distant planet) errupted out of space and landed of on earth. Emissaries from a distant planet have sent massive seed pods containing creatures that can assume the exact physical likeness of anyone they choose. At first, they assumed that it was some sort of a flu, but then similar to diseases, it spreads like a tidal wave affecting one citizen after another. The process of getting corrupted is when a person is affected with this virus, spreading into human body system and when they sleep, the pods inside destroy their bodies. The aliens may look the same but they have no contact of human emotions, and, like plants, are concerned only with propagating themselves and eventually subsuming the earth. The suspense of Don Siegel's classic and Jack Finney's novel has inspired many directors can create their own type of suspense, one that is quite similar to, "The Invasion of the Body Snatchers" is John Carpenter's "The Thing", where everyone is on their own, no one can trust each other and who's human or not. The premise of both, "The Thing" and this movie is quite similar, the way the suspense works and has that terrifying nostagic factor in each perceptive films.

The Invasion's story is similar to its predecessors, but adds some nostagic factors into it which makes it, not so amazing to watch. The story starts off when a US Patriot space-bus explodes and the fragments bring an alien virus that recodes the human DNA. It became a epidemic, worldwide, as researchers may think that it is the flu. Then the story begins with a miscast led by The Golden Compass' Nicole Kidman as she played Dr. Carol Bennell, a Washington psychiatrist who observes the modification of the behavior of one of her clients first, then in her former husband and finally in the population in general. Together with her friend Dr. Ben Driscoll(Daniel Craig) the researcher Dr. Stephen Galeano(Jeffrey Wright), they discover that the extraterrestrial epidemic affects human beings while sleeping and that her son Ollie, who had chickenpox when he was a baby, is immune to the disease and may save mankind from the outbreak.

Whatever the case may be, The Invasion tries to make each terrifying sequences as suspenseful as possible, but does it lurches out and drags you into oblivion? The answer may yet be pathenic. Each scene, first creates that sense of being terrified but then it's overshadowed by stupid faces and downright bad acting by Kidman. No scene, ever in the movie can be scary because the lack of acting in each sequence. The acting between Kidman and Craig delivers an unsatisfying moment for both of them. Their relationship between both Craig and Kidman isn't that much. A fair amount of acting is by Jeffrey Wright whom creates a quite fair amount of effort in each scene, he partake. It's just a shame that the aliens in this film are so preachy, as the extras feel like, empty-minded fools. It doesn't create a nostagic factor like the orignal one has.

In summary, The Invasion is yet another awful remake that should have been shut down earlier. The creep factor in this movie feels like unsatisfying and unpleasant as ruined by Nicole Kidman and the chemistry of Daniel Craig. Indeed, without Kidman, this film will have its merits and will be satisfying and grotsque as its predecessors' was. Oliver Hirschbiegel, should be ashame for creating this movie. Yet as I assume, It feels like, Germsns first invaded europe in World War II and spread ******ed propaganda to affect our daily lives. Which is, The Invasion's case. Please Don't Purchase This Film, just try a rental but don't even lift a finger on it, it might spread a epidemic virus that will make you like Uwe Boll.

As far as I can remember I think this is the worst remake since 'Psycho' was ruined.

I liked the 50s version. I loved the 70s version. I loved 'Puppet Masters' which was pretty much the 90s remake, but this was awful.

It was like watching clips of the older versions but with the suspense completely sucked out of it and in between was just Nicole Kidman being Nicole Kidman (acting terribly making stupid faces).

I would have felt more emotion if "Clutch partner's hand and lean towards the edge of your seat in anticipation" blinked at the bottom of the screen when the dramatic sequences where starting.

OK - maybe not the best analogy but seriously - to sum it up - really bad remake.

This film does have its moments. There was a creep factor involved, but at the same time it did seem to lack, something. I can not put my finger on it.

I thought that Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig did a fantastic job together.

When Nicole told Daniel that see was infected I figured Daniel would run, but he stayed; he showed us that he did love her. I was also very surprised that he lasted as long as he did before getting infected.

this movie is great, i keep my wondering the whole movie, i loved it and i would love to own the dvd and watch it again.
