From the makers of Shaun of the Dead, comes Hot Fuzz, and action-comedy "spoof" that in my opinion actually surpasses some of the action movies out there right now. Simon Pegg plays the straight-laced, rule driven super-cop Nicolas Angel. His super-heroic exploits in London make his fellow officers look bad, so he is sent to the town of Sandford, statistically the safest town in England when Angel will hopefully have little crime fighting to do. In Sandford, he partners up with Nick Frost who plays Constable Danny Butterman, the chief's son, an action movie addict, and for all intensive purposes, not a great cop so he's comedy relief. In Sandford, we see that a bunch of murders are occurring, but the townsfolk are convinced they're just accidents. So the movie is pretty much Nicolas & Danny trying to figure out the murders and who's behind it all. The movie employs the same quick edit style as Shaun of the Dead. Simon Pegg & Nick Frost are excellent as their respective characters. They have a genuine rapport and play off each other very well. The supporting cast is excellent as well. Jim Broadbent is sublime as the police chief, and Timothy Daly is delightfully creepy and hammy as a supermarket manager. And the members of the Sandford police force are just downright hilarious. This is an awesome movie. It's not really a spoof, it's more of an homage to action films, and in doing so- it's actually become a pretty damn good action movie in its own right. The comedy is never forced, the action sequences are well done, and the plot which may seem overcomplicated is surprisingly simple and mundane yet perfectly fitting. I've seen this movie three times already (once with the commentary on) and would love to see it again.

Not only was this a good comedy, but it was a great action movie as well as having ellemints of a mystery/suspence. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are such great actors. When I first saw the trailer, I was thinking these guy were just going to be the same characters they were in Shaun of the Dead, but they are drastically differetn in this film and fit there roles to a T.

As officer Angel is trying to figuer out what's going on in this small town, you are quickly drawn in and feel nd really feel like you're apart of the ride.

One of the really great things for me was the fact that the hero of the film never killed anyone. But don't let that fact fool you, lots of blood and violance in this film.

Hot Fuzz is one of the best comedies I have ever seen. Instead of taking the stupid buddy-cop movie approach, Hot Fuzz goes in another direction, making a parody of hard-core action movies, while at the same time, poking fun at society. There is a great blend between stupid, smart, British, and satirical humour making this movie appealing to many different types of audiences. Also the writers' use of recurring themes really help the movie keep up its great, humourous pace. Best of all the movie also focuses on the (rather humourous) inner struggle of the characters making it even more fun to watch. With a great cast, fantastic writing, and many important themes (both ridiculous and serious), Hot Fuzz rises above most comedies making it, not only a great comedy, but a comedy that rivals (and beats) many other movies of different genres.

Hot Fuzz is one of the most ace comedies I have ever watched. Hot Fuzz both retains the action-packed seriousness and action of a classic cops movie, but the goofiness still remains there, and is generally can be seen as an undertone, a hilarious undertone.

Hot Fuzz has the most amazing set-design you will ever see in a Pegg comedy. The dead trees, creepy and old-fashoined houses, and clouds brooming in the sky. Hot Fuzz both gives an amazing look and feel to an old scary Sleepy Hollowesque town.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost both keep strong characters, that are both silly, but surprinsingly loving. Jack Angel, main cop, is a great character for his consistent force and authority in his job, and how Nicholas Angel just can't learn how to take a break, and Jack Angel's idiotic sidekick Danny, who just trys to teach him to relax in life.

Hot Fuzz is both surrealist and both action-packed at the same time. Hot Fuzz genuinely has roughly 250 laughs, not that I counted, but, this movie has some pretty solid laughs, but the storyline has a true murder mystery genre, as it's finishing touch.

Hot Fuzz only has ONE flaw in it whatsoever, and that is the plot of the film. Hot Fuzz mixes both a Disney coming-of-life storyline and a Bumpkin villiage horror storyline. The realtionship of both Nicholas Angel and Danny is just like a Disney movie realtionship; think about it; Nicholas Angel, a stern and woeful protaginist, and he ends up with a bumbling, wisecracking idiot. The other characters learns a cliche message, surrounded by classic slapstick gags, whilst the bumbling idiotic sidekickhelps him all along the way. The Bumpkin villiage plot is a hodded gang with bats and guns mysteriously chopping the heads of the citizens, and the hapless police are trying to find the killer. For a plot, in one word, it's "generic", and too easy, and not really any complexity or interwines are added to the story, and in that way, the plot, of course, gets predictable.

Simon Pegg have created another classic comic nutcracker spoof, and, I disagree with all on one thing, this is better than Shaun of The Dead.

The creative team behind the 2004 horror-comedy Shaun of the Dead takes on the action genre in the hilarious comedy Hot Fuzz. Sgt. Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) is London's finest and most dedicated police officer who is reassigned by his superiors to the small crime-free village of Sanford. When a series of suspicious and gruesome accidents stuns this uneventful village, Sgt. Angel and his bumbling new partner Danny Butterman (Nick Frost) learn that there is more to Sanford than it appears. Hot Fuzz is definitely one of the year's funniest films. The story is entertaining and offers some nice twist and very funny moments. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have great comic chemistry. The 2007 action-comedy also stars Timothy Dalton (The Living Daylights), Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean) and Academy Award winner Jim Broadbent (Iris). Hot Fuzz received overwhelming positive reviews from critics and proved a commercial success earning more than twice of Shaun of the Dead.

I REALLY liked this movie. It has "bad ass" and "funny" written all over it. I never seen action/comedy being mixed so wonderfully. The movie is about Sgt. Nicholas Angel, the best cop in London who succeeds in all aspects in being a cop. He is so good, that his own team gets him relocated to a village with low crime rate (He made them look bad). That village is Sandford, where once Angel gets there meets his dim witted, action movie loving partner Danny Butterman. Angel becomes suspicious after many different "accidents" happen (By accident I mean bloody, gory murder), with no one in the service even caring. Acting is great and very funny, action is top notch (Especially for a parody!), and is bloody. One of 2007's best films! 4.5/5 stars.

It's going to be a long time for anyone to come up with something as funny as seeing an old woman getting drop kicked in the mouth while she is reloading her shotgun to shoot the cop. Great scene! With just the right touch of action and comedy this is a definite buy on DVD in my book.
