Well i must say i did almost fall asleep in this movie but otherwise it was a ride. I liked the songs though, so i downloaded the OST. But Hugh Grant quite a funny side to him and Drew Barrymore was a darling. It was a movie that maybe i would pop in the dvd player again when i'm going through breakup. Not a bad movie at all but just forcing it over the top with a weak storyline.

Just because a film is #1 at the British box office doesn't necessarily mean that it's good - and that's certainly the case with this film. The trailer makes it look alright - the usual rom-com with a bit of music thrown in. The only film I like Hugh Grant in is Notting Hill; in every other film he acts exactly the same so his character in this was incredibly predictable. Drew Barrymore always tends to play the confused, weird acting woman with issues; and this film certainly isn't any different. The story is weak and they seem to throw all kinds of random stuff in to make it "exciting". The music is meant to be melodic and sweet but its actually cheesy and boring. It has the potential to be a fab film - with different actors. The girl playing the stupid pop star is painful to watch - its like watching a Paris Hilton lookalike; and at the end she practically has sex on stage with her dancers. Oh forget it, I can't think of anything good to write.

This is a romantic comedy which has been done over and over again. Grant plays an 80s rock star who is hired by a new teenage pop star to write him a song. The problem is he has a week to do it and he needs help. In comes barrymore who plays his plant waterer who happens to have a way with words. Then the romance comes through with Grant playing the character that he has played in the past few movies. Barrymore seems to be stuck in a rutt making the same type of movie over and over again. To be honest the chemistry here is not very good. The comedic scenes here are really not funny but the music video is. Its in the beginning of the movie and it pretty much copies 80s videos to a tee. I cannot say that this movie is very funny because its not and the romance really is not there. It seems as if the main characters get together because they are there and then when they are together they really do not seem like they are. Grant seems to be with barrymore because he needs her and barrymore plays it more like she likes him. The acting in this movie is average with nobody really standing out. I cannot recommend this movie unless you want to see the same old romantic comedy you have seen over and over again.

I didn't know Hugh Grant could sing! He did wonderfully!! Or that he could fit into such tight pants. I hope he got enough blood circulation to his head.

Not to mention Brad Garrett, playing the manager.

Everyone did FANTASTIC!!

Drew Barrymore delivered just the right amounts of vunerability and and confidence as Sophie, while Hugh Grant amazed me with his ability to sing "Pop! Goes My Heart" with a voice I didn't realize he had. Their chemistry on the screen was perfect, and they appeared to be enjoying themselves throughout the movie.
