This film is surprisingly a very good movie, and to quote Fangoria, it really is "a better and scarier version of Hostel." I can't really understand why it's getting such negative reviews and a less than enthusiastic reception from audiences. It has very good acting from good actors, it has absolutely stunning visuals and cinematography, some terrific gore and a very interesting plot, and unlike Hostel, this film doesn't ruin itself by adding in gratuitous sex and violence. The violence in 'Turistas' is actually relevant to the storyline.

Seriously, ignore the negative reviews, and check this film out. If you don't like it, it's certainly understandable because I know it most certainly will not be everyone's cup of tea, but hopefully you will because it really is a good, hard-working movie.

After I saw this I went to a Laser Surgery Clinic to remove the outer skin of my eyes exposed to this movie.

The ad on the box of this movie seems to promise women, beautiful beaches and blood. To say that this movie wants to copy Hostel is an understatement. This movie is like a paint by numbers copy of every teenage horror movie gone wild. The annoying characters check.. hot girls..check.. the male hero.. check..exotic location check.. Its basically some nice looking kids on vacation in brazil who end up stranded on a beach bar. They party away and then the badness happens. To say that this movie is predictable is an understatement. I am sure the brazil touring agency is not very happy with this movie. I have to say that this movie is pretty bad. In between the horrible acting and ridiculous plot there is actually an extended underwater sequence. Lets put it this way.. the scene starts with three people.. then all of a sudden there are four people with no explanation at all. Yes I am serious a fourth person appears out of nowhere and there is no explanation of it. I know because I rewinded the film to make sure I was not imagining it. I think the movie is pretty lame with random gore scenes thrown in to cover the fact that nothing is really going on. Its obviously trying to cash in on the current market of gore films started by saw and hostel. This movie does not really pan out and is not worth a rental.
