Speed Racer... I really don't know what to say about this one. I noticed that this movie was on CineMAX this past weekend so I decided to watch it, simply out of boredom. The special effects were pretty good but the movie itself seemed pretty cheesy. I didn't find Speed Racer to be a movie that littler kids would enjoy watching. Speed Racer seemed to continue on for a very long time... Another problem with this film was that some things were too unrealistic even for the comic type world of Speed Racer. As I was saying I really am not quite sure what to say about this movie other than the obvious fact I found it to be: long, confusing, unrealistic, and weird.

This movie was okay. Great special effects and loved the driving scenes. However, there were times it was trying to be too flashy for its own good during the fight scenes. And I did not like the scenes with the littlest brother and the monkey....

This movie was okay. Great special effects and loved the driving scenes. However, there were times it was trying to be too flashy for its own good during the fight scenes. And I did not like the scenes with the littlest brother and the monkey. Especially so when they were mistakenly spliced with main storyline scenes causing the flow and pacing to be convoluted.

After seeing the trailer and reading the reviews for this film, I had pretty much ruled it out as a film that I'd never want to watch. On a chance (or more precisely, a plane flying back from Los Angeles), I decided to give it a go.

.....and what a good decision that was :).

Sure the dialogue can get a bit bogged down at times, and Sprite and Chim Chim are a bit annoying (but it is partially aimed at kids though), but I generally find it hard to find fault with anything else . Sure a lot of the cars and sets in the film don't actually exist, but the film wouldn't have been half as good without them (unlike all the unneccessary use of CGI in a lot of modern action films), I honestly don't think I've been this impressed by a film's overall use of computer graphics since The Matrix.

The racing sequences are a joy to watch, there are plenty of enjoyable character performances, and as far as representing a cartoon as something live action, this film really hits the spot. Overall, the film wasn't perfect, but it was still a heck load of fun

Speed Racer is a superb movie of the year. It may not be the best film ever made but it does have certain qualities to it. For instance, the origin of the storyline. Speed Racer was first created as a cartoon show in the 60's and although I don't quite remember the show today, but I can tell you that the directors really did their homework in creating this movie. Directed by the creators of the Matrix, Speed Racer delivers some of the best driving sequences and interesting drama in any films this year. I love the movie. I really do. Speed Racer is pretty funny, entertaining, and a really colorful film making it easily recommendable to viewers of all ages, especially the kids.

I'm surprised the movie didn't really hit big and lots of complain about the film being too colorful and stuff. I don't understand. I thought it was awesome. But then again different people have different taste. Just like me with the Transformers. Everybody loves that movie, but as much as I loved playing the action figures during my youth, I hate the Transformers movie so much. Why? Read my review of the Transformers to find out. Bottom line, Speed Racer is a damn good movie. Each actors played their roles really well and the storyline is pretty cool too. I say go and watch it.

While this film had some good action moments it felt pretty slow and too long for its own good.If your a fan of the show then you will find that it stays true it and making the world seem all colrful and crazy is a good idea that seems similar to how sin city tried to be.My problems are that its too slow and there are alot of moments where i just wanted too fall asleep.I also hated how the film was just too long standing at around 2 hours i thought that kids who see this will be bored most of the time.I really liked the racing and how it was so colorful though the speed of everything else is too slow.
