Alice (Pascale Bussières), a seismologist working in Japan, is forced to return to Quebec to try to make sense of a strange phenomenon: for the past week, in a small northern town, the tide has stopped. As soon as the sets foot in Baie-Comeau, the scientist’s mission takes an unexpected turn. The place is unbearably humid, people are behaving in wacky ways, a young Chinese girl sleep-walks every night, and the phone number of the attractive fire-fighting tanker-plane pilot, Marc (Jean-Nicolas Verreault), has been torn from every phone book in town. In order to shed some light on the mystery, Alice must abandon science and rely on her feelings. Alice (Pascale Bussières), une sismologue travaillant au Japon, est forcée de revenir au Québec pour tenter de résoudre un phénomène étrange : depuis une semaine, dans une petite baie éloignée du nord du Québec, la marée s’est arrêtée. En mettant les pieds à Baie-Comeau, l’enquête de la scientifique prend une tournure imprévue. L’endroit est insupportable d’humidité, les gens ont des comportements loufoques, une petite chinoise est somnambule toutes les nuits et le numéro de téléphone de Marc (Jean-Nicolas Verreault), séduisant pilote d’avion-citerne, est arraché de tous les bottins téléphoniques de la ville. Pour élucider une énigme impossible, Alice devra apprendre à oublier la science et faire plutôt confiance à ses sentiments.
