a good movie. jim carrey is hilarious as he plays the grinch character. definitely better then the cartoon. dr. seuss' first movie turned into a live action film. great for the whole family. probably the best live-action dr. seuss movie yet.

The very first Dr. Suess movie emulated in a live-action form, and it's not a disgrace, but it's definetly not great either. Ron Howard's version of Dr. Suess' timeless classic: How The Grinch Stole Christmas, is generally a hit-and-miss film. Jim Carey gives us some of the best comical whimsy we've seen from him on screen, and the film is vusually spell-binding truly creating what a Dr. Suess enviornment would really look in live-action form, but, this Grinch is a tad too gloomy to be truly considered a family film of Dr. Suess, and a tad too wacky for kids to cope for.

There are many sequences in the film which are a tad too sad for kids, and contains many moments of irresponsible and angry behaviour for kids to cope with. Notably, the sequence when they display The Grinch as a child, in a school, and he throws the presents and trees around the school, and shouts out: "I hate Christmas"! And, also the sequence when the Grinch sets fire to the tree in Whoville. These are nice ideas, do not get me wrong, and gives us more emotional depth and reason than most Suessian adaptations, but they are tad too gloomy and depressing for children to see.

There are very nice sequences in The Grinch alone, and they maybe not entirely striking they are effective in terms of what they do. Such as The Grinch crying on top of Mount Crumpit realazing the meaning of Christmas, and the narrator Anthony Hopkins taking in a low, soft voice giving us an insight to the story. Very nice ideas, and do cause a trear coming to your eyes, because of good writing and sharp performances.

Overall, The Grinch is a average attempt to capture the Suess formula, and a reasonably decent watch for Suess entertainment.

This was a great movie. I really like how it was extended from the cartoon version to make a full length movie. Jim Carrey did a great job at his part. This is a great version of the classic Dr. Suss story and a great movie to watch.
