A beautiful mindf*ck of a movie (sorry, there's just no better way to say it). Primer is for those who can appreciate dense, non-predigested storytelling. You have to actually THINK your way through this film- and that is by no means a bad thing.

Please understand- I'm not trying to be an intellectual snob here: I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, so I didn't get this film the first time I watched it... or even the second... and even then I needed some internet help to comprehend it... and I'm still not sure I get it all. So why bother? It's worth it, that's why. Shane Carruthers has created a modern masterpiece that is so multilayered, it's almost an interactive exercise- you keep seeing new things and gaining new insights every time you watch it. At heart it's a science fiction morality tale but with such an air of plausibility that one gets totally sucked into the story as if it were actually happening. Watch it and then email me.
