I know alot of people are Maggie Gyllenhaal fans. She's got an ease about her that transfers to her characters. She definitely becomes her onscreen personas. This film is no different. It felt unfinished, unpolished and I suspect that was the point. There doesn't need a resolution because that's not what recovery is all about. It's a day to day process, it's a coming to a point where you ask for the help that you need, where you work hard to achieve "success." I also felt like it was meant to simply be a mirror into a short period of time in her life, a mirror that reveals some shocking details about her past and her present. Some scenes dragged on a bit long butI understand that they were meant to show a certain side of her, the side trying to be "good." I'm not sure I liked it but that doesn't mean it wasn't what it was supposed to be.
