I was very happy to hear that Stallone was resuscitating a second franchise and even happier to hear that it would be Rambo. As a kid I think I was the last to actually see Rambo out of all of my friends and that took a sleepover at another friend’s house to happen. After that I was a Rambo fan and went on to watch and love all of the movies. Even though Rambo 3 wasn’t the best it was at least entertaining. The new Rambo starts out with a bang, continues on with a bang and ends with a bang! This is Rambo and Stallone, who I believe wrote and directed the movie, wanted to make this as real as he could and it shows. Although there is some over the top violence most of it fits because, like I said, this is Rambo. This is why you came to watch the movie in the first place and that is what you are going to get. There really isn’t a story to Rambo. It is more like a cause and Rambo has decided to help the cause by shooting and stabbing everyone who is against him. Awesome! Rambo, like Rambo: First Blood, Rambo II and Rambo III, doesn’t have a lot of dialog or plot to fog the action. This is an action movie for the kind of person that loves action for the action. This movie never tries to do anything that it shouldn’t like bore the action crowd with a story that isn’t there. You want a story? Helpless people are dying for no reason by a POS guy in a uniform. Who is going to save the day? Rambo! Who? I said Rambo! That is all the story you need!
Kidding aside, you don’t go into a Rambo movie for story. There isn’t much of a story here. There isn’t even really that much dialog from Rambo either. This is a movie for the person who loves an action movie that they don’t have to think about and an all around fan of the Rambo movies. Beyond that, there isn’t much more to it.

Yes there's a major lack of story, originality, and character development, but the film is still a heck lot of fun!

The locations look good, the action comes thick and fast, and the violence is graphic but believeable.

I reckon it's the best Rambo movie since "First Blood", and is the perfect example of why an action movie doesn't require a $100 million plus budget to make it entertaining and watchable
