'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning' is a film I wanted to like. The premise is interesting, I enjoyed the remake, and it's clearly a very gory film. But I was let down. It failed to develop the plot in any new, interesting or significant way by focusing on and relying on graphic gore to tell its story, and hopeless acting from a group of miscast nobodies.

Honestly, if you just want to see a film with absolutely no substance, some graphic, gory and gratuitous violence, then you'll enjoy this film and I would personally recommend you see 'The Hills Have Eyes 2' as an even better example of this, but fans of the remake and indeed horror fans, do not watch this film. It is, thoroughly, a waste of time with almost no redeeming qualities.

Surprisingly good movie with more than OK acting and a consistent script. Because the story is more or less known, it is difficult to come up with surprises, but the writers managed it. Gory, scary horror.
