not one of jim carrys better movie he should just stick to comedys this was just boring and it wasnt scary eaither once you break it down 23 is just a number and thats all it a number bad plot and storyline

This is a very interesting idea for a film, unfortunately it doesn't pull it off. The first hour or so of the film are ruined by the last 30 minutes of the film. The last 30 minutes are really a Hollywood attempt to rectify a film that has a lot of not so happy endings that would work much, much better with it. But the scenes from the book are doing beautifully in a film noir style.

Jim Carey was great as he fell into insanity but then became the old Carey with his overacting at the end. I can't say this movie was horrible because it had great potential.

The number 23.... one of the best film I have ever seen. You dont know anything till the end, and the scene where he jumps from the window and loses him memory...just great.

I have to say that this waz a good scary movie!
Very weird and kind of confusing at parts! But overall good!
I didn't think that Jim Carrey could do any other movies besides comedys!

This movie is being billed as a horror film but its not. Really its more of a thriller than anything. Carrey plays a man who is given a book on his birthday. As he is reading the book he realizes the book is on his life. Thats when his life starts to spin out of control. The number 23 is seen through out his life and he is letting it run his life. Then there is a twist which kinda makes the movie corny. The plot is interesting and the acting is average. I can see why carrey would do this movie. He wants to make himself something more then just a comedy actor. This movie is similar to angel heart with all the twists and turns. Carrey's acting is ok but this movie is not good for him. The movie is at best an average thriller which to me is not really worth a viewing unless you have nothing better to do.

Jim Carrey is astounding in it and when i first started to watch I didn't think I would buy him in it but he shows he doesn't need comedy to put on a good movie! The ending (to me) was guessable (i mean about who wrote the book) but you can't turn away from you HAVE to know the ending. Detective Fingerlings world has ALOT of similarites with Sin City but you learn to get past it. And I don't know about you lot but I have been fairly paranoid about the number 23! One to watch!

This film is weird. I came out of the cinema thinking, "What the hell was that?!" The trailers look good, and I thought I'd come out feeling incredibly paranoid about the number 23 but I couldn't have been more wrong. Fair enough, Jim Carrey is going down the serious route, but no-one likes him like that - go back to your jabbering, mental characters and that's when you get a successful film. This is just a desperate attempt to exploit a daft theory that has never really been considered. It just seemed pointless. I mean, sure, I could see the connections but at times it seemed like a coincidence too many - a dog called NED being related to 23. Alright, Jim Carrey was very convincing but films like this do not suit him. The ending was just a piss-take too many - it went from desperate to absolutely outrageous. As soon as Jim Carrey's character figured out what was going on, I just stopped listening; it was just stupid.

Overall it was an easy film to follow, but thats because it was explained in black and white like I was being spoon fed - audiences do have brains, you know. It wasn't a total disappointment but I certainly won't be rushing out to buy it. It's not a story, its a chance for the director to match films such as The Da Vinci Code or The Omen. I mean, relating disasters such as the Titanic and Hiroshima was just weird. How bored do you have to be to add up numbers and letters to get the number 23?!

The who-wrote-it revelation folds under scrutiny but it's fun getting there, Schumacher revisiting the brash stylistic tics of his '80s hit "Flatliners" with mucho gusto.
