I just watched it again a while ago and I guess I sort of forgot how, if you wanted you could see Crank as a drug movie...but it just happens to be part of the absurdity of the '80s/early '90s crazy storyline...but it's still awesome and has a kind of neat soundtrack because of all of quick-paced action scenes.

a great movie! I can't wait until the sequel!

Im pretty happy with the movie. Despite being only an hour and 20 minutes long it delivers a constant flow of adrenaline throughout. Crank, unlike most movies, starts immediately into the action right after the opening credits and doesn't stop until the very end which I thought was pretty impressive. For those who don't know the plot, its based around Jason Statham's character of "Chev Chelios" who is a professional hitman who finds himself living his last day after being injected with a Chinese cocktail that will kill him unless his adrenaline stays up. Throughout the movie Chev finds many different and creative ways to get his heart pumping which added a lot of comedy to go with the action, unfortunately the movie would have been a bit better if the storyline was a bit more creative itself. Don't get me wrong though - the whole Chinese cocktail and adrenaline thing was great but after that was established the action and comedy definitely saves the movie rather than the rest of the plot which I wont go into to save the details for those who haven't seen it yet.

Overall, the movie was action packed, had lots of laughs and in general was a really good time. Some drawbacks included the severely lacking plot, sometimes weird but unique directing, and of course it's length.

What can I say about Crank? On the one hand it's a frantically paced, horribly edited, badly acted, action film with an incredibly ludicrous plot. On the other hand, knowing it was a bad movie, I actually enjoyed parts of the film, and even laughed out loud more than a few times. Jason Statham plays the same character he does in every movie he's in. He plods through the movie with the same blank, stoic stare he always has. Granted, he's good in actions scenes which there are plenty of, but the man has the acting range of a loaf of bread. Anyway, he plays a hitman who's been given the "Beijing cocktail," a fictional drug that will cause him to die unless he can keep his adrenaline pumping. So the movie is pretty much him trying to stay alive long enough to kill the people who injected him. The movie has some pretty entertaining moments, and some decent action scenes. However, the quick editing makes the scenes feel very jumpy so you never really know what's going on.

Anyway, it's a very mediocre film with both good & bad parts.
